In response to some Mario best goalscorer of all time comments:
While Mario's talents are nothing to sneeze at,
there is only one Great One, he is the best ever, he will probably
always be known that way. The only people who don't agree are
Yes, Mario's goals/game avg is higher, but he hasn't played as long.
Howe's and Gretzky's both slipped after they had been around a few years
and started to slow down.
where do you think Mike Bossy would be in the record books barring injury?
Wayne even said in THN that Bossy was a better goal scorer than he is.
final point: yes, Mario has gone through injuries, the Hodgkins' etc.
and would have better numbers if that had not happened.
BUT... he was healthy for a good four years first, and he did beat Wayne in
the scoring race one or two of those years, i think, but
the 92 still stands. the 212 still stands. 50 goals in 39 games...
alive and well. record in assists, record in playoffs goals
record in playoffs points...
there is a BIG PROBLEM with your Mario is the best argument.
the record book shows Wayne Gretzky's name all over every spot
except Penalty Minutes... does this mean Mario never produced
his full potential any given year?
Does this mean his team was so inferior to the Oilers of the 80s
(possibly, but you can't count teammates as support, look at wayne's
numbers right now, and what place are the Kings in?)
well, sorry to go off on Mario. I think he is The Second Best Ever,
but if you don't see that, you are as blind as Ron Hogarth.
"that's funny, i thought i read a post with Belfour's name in it
and a compliment. Now what was that score tonight?
btw, good penalty, Eddie. Save Chelios's ***and pick up 2 assists.
