NYI: Salo or Fichaud?

What kind of split in games do you think these two guys are going to get
this year?  Who is going to end up with the full-time job?

According to todays newspaper Islanders wants to send him to
Utah, but S?derstr?m himself, who appears to be quite pissed
off on his trainer, says he rather plays anywhere in Europe.
Switzerland and Germany are mentioned.

Soderstrom was in Milbury's doghouse, and was optioned to Utah of the
IHL...

Fichaud is going to be the primary goalie and Salo is his backup. Since
from what I've read  Fichaud is in better shape this season than last,
he will play more of the back to back games, so I wouldn't look to see
Salo too often...

Really too bad b/c he is a very good goaltender.  He was made to look bad
last season but really it was the brutal defense in front of him.

Do not look for Salo to stay in the NHL for too long.  He is the one that
is in the doghouse bigger than Soderstrom.  Milbury had said coming into
this season that if Salo did not stick as the back-up he would be
outright released and would not even get to go into the minors this
time.  If he faulters at all look for a return of Soderstrom.

Soderstrom? As in the cage-six-sizes-large Soderstrom? That he even played at
the NHL level is a miracle. As a goaltender, he has a history of many key flaws
that have never quite been removed from his game. One: he almost always bites on
fake shots. Two: he goes down way too easy. Three: He's always been weak high
over the blocker - very weak. Four: He has inconsistent control of rebounds.
Five: He isn't hot jalapenos stickhandling the puck, either, and these days -
that's a must.
