Please excuse me for not being a master of hockey trivia and of teams
and players past.
Didn't several of the Rangers including Messier and a few other guys
win a few Stanley Cups or something when they played with the Edmonton
Oilers back in the '80's?
Was Keenan the Oiler coach when this happened?
If not, I would throw out the guess that Messier and those guys didn't
absolutely have to have Keenan to 'coach' them to a Stanley Cup because
a lot of those guys already had a few Stanley Cup finals (and victories)
under their belts and had the experience to draw from and the motivation
on their own to want YET ANOTHER Stanley Cup ring.
