ISLES: Trades Necessary!

The Islanders' started the season with some promise, but are COLD as ice right
now. I think a blockbuster deal is necessary to shake things up. IMHO, no one
should be considered untradeable. I think first to go should be McLennan. I'd
love to see Salo get called up and back up the other Tommy S. thomas and
Turgeon would be a good package for a scoring center and a good defenseman...

Biggest problem, IMO, is the team (mis)management....from head coach
(Lorne Henning is NOT a major league-calibre coach) to GM (Don Maloney is
NOT a major league-calibre GM)....

2 Years ago, this team had a solid core of good, young players.....nothing
has been done to build around this team since.....

I wonder if the Flames are not pursuing something with the Isle's.
There has been much talk here in Calgary about Reichel and/or
Zarley Zalapski moving.  I can't see a deal of those two for Thomas
and Turgeon (from either teams perspective) but Thomas for Zalapski
wouldn't be out of the question.  It seems that salaries dictate
trades these days so who knows...  Stranger things have happened.

Under normal conditions, I would say that this deal is a distinct
possibility...however, the Islander Mismanagement is not known to be as
forward-thinking as the rest of the league (take that however you would
like)....I'm convinced that the Isles won't make *any* trades of
signifcance this year....for some reason, Don Maloney (Isles' GM) is under
the impression that other GM's are trying to rob him in all proposed deals
and he thinks the best strategy is to wait until the off-season to get
what he thinks is "fair market value" for his players.  Just shows you
what a fool he is!  Too bad, I would have liked to have dumped Thomas for
*anything*:  addition by subtraction.

I don't think the Flames will go for Thomas; he does not fit King's "plans" and
I also believe he is asking too much money.

Karim.
