Hi,

This is the time to think about the playoff. It's problably that the Habs
will play the Playoff. But What is his chance in it. Do you read the article
about it by Alain Bonnier in the ?La Presse ? He talks about it but he has
took the result of his computer. The result is not true. But it's
interresting
.

I have though to do my stats.

This is the classemate.

        Est

1- Quebec------38    54 pts.
2- Philadelphie-37    44 pts.
He don't have chance that the Flyers be at the first place.

3- Pittsburgh - 38     52 pts.
Humm! interresting, because there are just 2 pts between Quebec and
Pittsburgh!

4- Boston -----36    41 pts.
Finaly, they are at 4-.

5- New-Jersey-38    41 pts.
6- Washington -37    39 pts.
If the Capitals win against New-Jersey this night...

7- Buffalo---- 36    38 pts.
8- Hartford--- 37    35 pts.
9- HABS------ 37        35 pts.
He has a big hole between Buffalo and Hartford. I would like that someone
respond at this question.       Thanks in advance.

Quebec-HABS:

A serie interresting all in all. The Habs have a succes against them, but
Patrick must to be in a good shape. I not think that the Habs will win
with Tugnutt or Brochu. The line Turgeon-Recchi-Damphousse will play a
lot. I hope that the line Bellows-Bure-Savage will be ?extra.

Philadelphia-Buffalo:

Oh! Buffalo will have a lot of difficulty, I think that the Flyers will
eliminate them in five games. The line Lindros-LeClair-Renberg will do
his job.

Pittsburgh-Washington:

Humm!, I have seen it in the last year or there are two or three years.
Washington have a good team but i think that he will be ?Wash ington.

Boston-New-Jersey:

I don't have any think for this serie but Craig Billington in the nets
for Boston is fair.

                 In Ouest

Detroit-Los Angeles:

I hope that you don't think at a ?finale (in french) Canadiens-Los Angeles.
Detroit on all the line: Detroit-detroit-detroit-detroit; in forth games.

Calgary-Dallas:

I think that there are a surprise in this serie, Dallas win in seven games.

St-Louis-Vancouver:

The Canucks are not a big team, St-Louis will have not difficulty to win
against them in five games.

Chicago-Toronto:

The best series like I love. The BlackHawks have lost Roenick, but there
is difficult to win against them. I predict: TORONTO for Pat Burns.

                         In Est

Philadelphia-Habs:

Oh!, it's the time for the Habs to wake up immediately. My prediction,
I know that a lot of people will be not agree with me but I predict:
THE MONTREAL CANADIENS !!!

Pittsburgh-New-Jersey:

For my memory: Pittsburgh

                 In Ouest

Detroit-Dallas:

Bob Gainey was good but Detroit win in six games.

St-Louis-Toronto:

Pat Burns is dead, because is team don't score: St-Louis in six games.

                 In Est

Pittsburgh-Habs:

That is like a serie Boston-Habs, I predict Pittsburgh in five games.

In Ouest

Detroit-St-Louis:

Great effort of the line with Hull, Shanahan, Anderson, Creigthon but...
Detroit win.

                                        In Est and in Ouest

Pittsburgh-Detroit:

First game:
The Pens try to score but the puck didn't enterd in the nets.
Federov score with five minutes to play and the Reds Wings win
2-1. (This is a beautiful history !)

Second game:
The fans pitch a fish on the ice, Scotty Bowman is happy,
because is team win. 5-2.

Third game:
Jaromir Jarg play a very good game, he scores 3 goals, and
the Pens win 3-2.

forth game:
The two team score every time, Bowman change Vernon for Osgood
and he starts to be in the game when Stevens is near him, he
shot...and score :top net 6-6. Vernon take the place of him.
Finaly, Yzerman score with 0:28 s to play and Detroit win 8-7.

At Detroit for the ...last game:

I predict that the Reds Wings win on their ice by 7-3.

Playoff or not playoff?

Post by Rob Polinsk » Sun, 16 Apr 1995 04:00:00

Your forecast is interesting, but if it came down to Montreal/Pittsburgh,
I doubt the Pens would win it in 5.  This is a team who has won as many
times in their *lifetime* at Montreal as equal to the number of wins
Ottawa has this season.  It could go 6 or 7 with either team winning.

Why Pittsburgh will do better this yer in the playoffs:

1. *Defense*  Questioned all year, it's really came to life in the
past 4 games.  (Held Montreal scoreless in the 2nd and 3rd, held
Ottawa scoreless in the 2nd and 3rd, held Washington to 1 goal, and
Ottawa 2 two goals)  More importantly, this team is _finally_ allowing
less than 30 shots per game.  That's what you need to do to win
   in the playoffs.

2. The power play is really starting to click.  It's been converting
at around 38% the past 5 games or so.

The Quebec/Pittsburgh race is fun to watch.  New Jersey can't be counted
out either, though.  They were pre-season faves to win it all and now
they're coming together at the right time.  Should be a great race in
the East.  Can't say the same in the West though.

I'm agree with you, but I have though that the Habs would be tired out after
have beat two teams. However, I think to have do an erreur, the Habs
can't take part in playoff.

What do you think about it?

That's true..the Islanders were really tired two years ago in this situation.

After their win tonight, I think the Habs just might squeak in past Hartford
and Buffalo or Washington.  They still have more games at home left and
have only what 2 or 3 losses there all year long?  It'll be close -- and
it's definitely a race for that #8 spot.
