Please everyone, I think I speak for many others when I say that I am
sick and tired of hearing how the N.H.L is being unfair to your team, to
Canadian teams, to small-market teams etc. etc.
Really, who cares that Miami is so crucial to the growth of professional
hockey that its team gets to bypass having to "build" a contender by
having a whole team full of veterans handed to them by the leagueplus
the right to name yourself "Florida" even though there was an N.H.L team
there before them?
And I for one see nothing inequitable in the fact that if you're the Los
Angeles Kings, you can go broke over and over again but if you're a fan
of Minnesota or Hartford you get to see your teams massacred by the
league to make room for franchises in bigger "markets".
Who cares that Canada gets (at least) two of their eight N.H.L teams,
the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Canada Cup and many of the the country's
best players taken away from them while Denver, Phoenix, and Atlanta get
a second and a third chance at major-league hockey to prove to American
sponsors that the N.H.L is "friendly" to fans the States?
And if you're the San Jose Sharks you get all that plus be handed the
remnants of one of those 25-year old teams the league killed off and the
commissioner's facilitating all the unbalanced trades you need to build
a decent teamnever have a winning season and still be considered a
success as long you sell a lot of Starter jackets to the gangsta types.
AND... (this one's for you Hamilton)
If you're Ottawa you finally get the team in 1992 that should've been
one of the Second Six, as long as you agree to build an arena in a
war-zone so the league can complain that attendance is dropping
offtherefore Canadians are poor fans and the country should never
receive another N.H.L franchise. Nothing but whining... right ??
Tell me, WHO REALLY CARES ?????
Go Rafales !
