* Monday, 29th July 1996

NORTH SYDNEY 15 drew with CRONULLA 15 at North Syndey Oval
          Cronulla: Tries - Treister, Nikau
                    Goals - Rogers 3
                    Field Goal - Healey
North Sydney: Tries - Fairleigh 2
                        Goals - Taylor 3
                        Field Goal - Taylor
          Referee: K Jeffes
Attendance: I either missed it or Nine didn't tell it to us. I'd
                      estimate around 13,000.

To quote Rabs Warren, "What a finish!" For those who missed it
North Sydney led 15-14 with 70 seconds remaining and kicked out on the
full from their own forty-five metre line. Cronulla with the turn over
played the ball with about 45 seconds left. They went up the centre for a
few tackles and then on the twenty metre line passed back to Green for a
field goal. The defence raced up and forced Green to dodge around them
before being caught. He managed to play the ball with five seconds left on
the clock. The ball went deep to Healey who slotted the field goal as the
siren went in the background.
It was mentioned after the game that Cronulla may have had 14
players on the field at one stage during the last few minutes. North
Sydney will probably lodge a protest and if proved then it is quite likely
that Cronulla would be stripped of their point.

Mate,
If they had a played it at Stockland they woulda filled it to the
terraces... and had more people buying hot dogs than you'd ever beleive...
