Have Wigan signed Ashley Klown - it looks like it with some of the decisions
he's making tonight!

The first half display by Klown was the worst I can remember by any referee
ever - and that's saying something!

Totally agree. I would also love to know the reason for the video ref.
not allowing the weird Wakey try? Was it because it consisted of so
many strange moves that one of them must be wrong?

I'm also not happy that Sky are showing so many Wigan games, just
because they are at the bottom.

They're on again next Friday, maybe they need Sky's money to help pay
Fielden & Klein's wages.

They must be deciding on a match by match basis. Digiguide does not
name the teams for this Friday, but does have the ones for 6pm Sat.
Hull v Warrington. Seems very fishy?

For anyone interested.  I noticed that The Northern Rail Cup Final is
covered by Sky as below, it's also repeated later that day and
early on Monday morning.

Channel: Sky Sports 2 402
Date: Sunday 16th July 2006
Time: 14:00 to 16:30 (starting in 8 days)
Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes.
The Northern Rail Cup Final between Leigh Centurions and Hull KR
at Bloomfield Road in Blackpool.  (Widescreen)

I know this isn't the reason why, but I was sure the ball hadn't been
grounded and was still in play when Klein blew his whistle. So I thought
the video ref couldn't give it because of that. However the way it was
restarted means he gave a knock-on, doesn't it?

That's what I think too. Tap on the 20m line means that the attacking
side made the ball dead in-goal or knocked on in the in-goal area. I
didn't see either of those things happening.

None of the "expert" panel commented on the restart though, so you and I
must be wrong ;-)

True, but they did comment that they thought the VR's are bottling a
few decisions nowadays, so they are prepared to criticise the system
occasionally.

Well I've seen many much worse, but I do watch the NL !

I don't go in for *** theories but I was close to becoming a
convert on Friday night. Tony Smith must be thinking that something is
amiss, although Wakefield's discipline did let them down a few times.

Even so it's difficult to play 25% of the game with one man down, and that
for *offences* which often don't even attract a penalty let alone a
sin-binning.  Ben Jefferies temporary dismissal was an absolute joke, whilst
Korkidas can also consider himself particularly unfortunate.  I'll not go
into other inconsistent decisions, but there were a fair few of them too.

I suspect that quiet a few Wiganers would have been bemoaning the referee on
here had the decisions been made against Wigan players.

You mean like last weeks VR decisions?

For all those people who write to the League Express about ***
theories to keep Wigan up only have to look to last weeks game for their
answer.

There have been some questionable VR decisions both last weekend and this,
but I doubt even you would justify the sin-binning of the two Wakefield
players on Friday!

The first one is easily justified the coaches had a meeting with the RL to
stamp out late challenges on the kicker and it was decided this would be
tightened up I am not saying it was bad seen much worse but when the
decision has been made the Referees have to act on it so he had no option
but to send him to the bin. The second did not deserve a sin binning it was
an accidental collision but its not easy being the man in the middle but I
think A.K. is the worst Ref in S.L. last year he was coached from the stands
all season by none other than Mr Cummings he needs to do some NL1 or 2
before he is allowed in S.L. like all other Refs do.
