Salary cap & 20/20 - just a thought.

Salary cap & 20/20 - just a thought.

The 20/20 aspect of the current SL salary cap structure is the part which
seems to create most disquiet in the game.

How about changing it to a 10/20 (or similar arrangments) which would apply
only to players who have NOT come through the club's own development
structure.

Just as an illustration in Hull's case that would remove the likes of Horne,
King, Cooke, Yeaman, Wardle, Walcott, & Lee from the restriction, whilst
'imported' players like Tony, Briscoe, Dowes, Carvell, Raynor, Swaine,
McMenemy & Chester would be included.

It would certainly encourage clubs to bring on their own young players.

Any thoughts?

John.

Wardle & Walcott (thinking cricket) be damned, I meant Wheeldon & Washbrook!

For pedantry's sake I believe that it will be 20/25 for next season.
