PIcked this up of the PA Newsfeed on AOL this morning:

Brisbane Broncos forward Gordon Tallis has been given no more than a slap
on the wrist for his attack on Wigan substitute Terry O'Connor in Monday's
World Club Championship match.

Tallis has escaped with a warning letter  despite a plea for action by a
Brisbane forensic pathologist who claimed such an attack could have proved
fatal.

Tallis landed three heavy blows on O'Connor's head in the attack in the
59th minute of the game.

O'Connor retaliated with a punch to Tallis' head and both players were
sent to the sin-bin.

The Wigan camp decided against lodging a formal complaint because they
didn't want to be labelled "whingeing Poms".

But an obviously worried coach Eric Hughes said: "We were very upset by
the incident.

"We would have expected the Super League authorities to take action. I'm
sure that would have been the case had a similar incident happened in
England."

However, Super League commissioner Jim Hall decided only to send a letter
to Tallis officially warning him that any such incident in the future
would see him brought before the judiciary.

This has angered the pathologist, Dr Jim Gwynne, who had watched the game
on television.

I don't often say this,  but this is ***y ridiculous.
But what else can we expect when they are decendants of convicts
with similair morals.

If that attack would have happend outside a pub at the weekend
then Tallis would have been done for GBH or common ***.

He would have paid a hefty fine. compensation and at worst served
a short jail sentance.  The lack of punnishment handed out by the
Aus SL committee is pathetic and tops off the display by thier refs.
It would not have been so bad if the ref would have red carded the git.

Wigan would not be considered whinging poms. If I were Wigan I would
lodge a format complaint. And if Wigan won't then Terry Should sue
the ***.

I hope the British RL take up the matter and complain.  Who cares if they
call us whinging poms.

It makes me seethe.  Remember when Edwards stuck his arm out on Clyde at
Wembley.  The Aus officials wanted his ***.  What's good for them is
good for us.  Sue the ***s,  take him to court, Hire a hit man, Kill.

It's not often that I agree with a Wiganer, Phil, but you are absolutely
entitled to blow off on this. A warning letter for goodness sake. To
take it back to what started the punch up, there has been no mention of
the spear tackle which Harrigan ignored. (Terry Newton's got a 1 match
ban for a "dangerous throw" whatever that may be. Has anyone actually
seen this incident?) He also missed Tallis trying to take Tony Smith's
head off.

The man is a disgrace to refereeing. I thought our lot were bad enough
but he takes the biscuit.

IMO This kind of open 'Up Yours' bias is more annoying than losing to them.
The Aussie courts displayed similar 'Up Yours' bias when they banned SL
last year - openly overstepping their power & obviously in the pockets of
ARL.

THIS IS NOT WHAT THESE GAMES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT.

In fact I am so mad, I am considering travelling to Wigan when this git
plays there just to shout my twopenny worth. I am an ardent Bulls fan BUT
when the shit hits the fan (and it looks like it is) then its US versus
THEM, and I for one will be 100% behind Wigan in the return match !!

Thanks for the support Guys.  It reassures me that I'm not just looking
at the RL word through cherry and white coloured glasses.

Don't forget to bring you snipers rifle.
This guy will be crapping himself for the return game.
Boy could we do with Skerret on load that day, just for 10 mins.

Given the number of threats of ***, death, the intemperate
language, and racist anti-australian bigotry posted to rsrl re:
Tallis, don't you mean your 'threepenny' worth?

Can't wait for the next pious posting about the Sharks fans' behaviour.

I'll be at Central park for the return and I'm a Saints supporting
Londoner (don't ask, and no Man U references. It predates Fulham). At
Millwall, the crowd used to have this line nicked from rollerball. At the
beginning of the last game the crowd are all shouting "Jonathan's Dead" at
Jonathan E. Whenever anyone applied Millwall's tactics to them, the crowd
at the New Den (whose bark was generally far worse than Terry Hurlock's
bite) used to all shout "X is dead" at the player in question. Took them
right out of the game that did. Of course Terry Hurlock then used to
finish the job off, but Wigan have got Neil Cowie to do that.

Anyway, the referee's obviously don't want to protect English Players from
cheap shots, so the players have to do it for themselves. So come on
everybody......

"TALLIS IS DEAD. TALLIS IS DEAD"

P.J.

p.s. I  obviously do not advocate unnecessary ***/ crowd
intimidation, espescially when carried out by Convicts. But let's not let
them think they can get away with it.

p.p.s. Newton. Spear tackle. My arse. He wouldn't even have got a Wasari
in judo for that one. Not to mention the Davidson ban which is looking
distinctly more suspect as I hear information from it.

p.p.p.s Let's pick something up from the ra-ra s shall we. "99" everyone.

When I started this thread I wondered what the reaction would be.

I am glad to see people feel the same way about the incident as me.

My reaction is also to hope Tallis gets a thumping in the return match.

Normally it would not, because normally he would have been sent off and
normally received a ban.  He and his team would have suffered as they
should

RL is usually pretty good at handling these incidents.  OK they may be
inconsistent in the bans they dish out but at least they do something
definate as opposed to writing letters.

Alas the concept of the authorities diciplining players in the WCC seems
to have gone out of the window.  Letters (!!!!) and one match bans and
even then the ASL clubs want to appeal!

In the absence of any action from the authorities they are asking for
trouble as scores are settled.  Maybe if there is a bit of payback they
might wake up.

In the meantime your normally mild mannered, non *** WiganRLfan hopes
Tallis gets a right good kicking.

Two wrongs don't make a right but in this case I don't really care.

Then they will whinge and complain and our players will get hefty bans.

He will, don't worry.

Can anyone confirm that Wigan talent scouts have been seen in South
Africa looking to sign one of the provincial props from Union for the
return match ;-)

I know the unis are going downhill but you'd think the students could
at least spell their own names correctly :)
