London interested in Stuart Dickens

Post by Steve » Thu, 01 Apr 1999 04:00:00

I have heard a rumour that the Broncos are showing an interest in
Featherstone's Academy international Prop, Stuart***ens.

Does anyone know any more about this, or is it likely to be a similar deal
to the one that saw Karl Pratt sign for Leeds and not play.  It seems that
he was bought purely to stop any other SL club getting him.  Many Leeds fans
of my acquaintance couldn't see where he could fit in the team at the time
the signing was announced.

it is true that Carl Pratt will find it hard to get a place in the Leeds
team. Saying that he has already made it in to the team against Wigan and
that was a super league game. Sadly he is now injured and will have to wait
some time before he gets another chance,.

IMO to say that players are bought to stop other clubs from getting them
is ridiculous.

I think what you'll see happen with Pratt is the same as what happened
with St Hilaire.  They struggle to get a place for the first couple of
years, and then gradually mature into the player they are predicted to
be.  Having said that, I still don't see where he will fit in in the
future as IMO Sinfield will replace Powell at Stand Off and the two wing
spots are sorted for a while to come yet.

Especially if Wendell joins next year.  ;-)

Where did you hear this rumour? If its true it is very worrying. Its a fact
of life that if a team is in the NFP its going to get its best players
poached, but IMO the predators from SL could at least do us the honour of
waiting until the closed season and not go around poaching players who are
on a contract....

I think that type of arraignment is one of the things John Kear has
suggested.
