This site may have problem with IE2.

It has been designed for  the later versions of these browsers.

IE2 has been superceded for some months now, and it also has a problem
with some table structures  which are prolific throughout the site.

Not sure if your local mags give out sample CD's, but here in OZ the
two major PC mags have a copy of the latest browsers on their free CD
each month.

Maybe it's time to upgrade you are missing out on seeing a lot of
enhancements on the Net with IE2.

cheers,

Morry B.

You think you've got problems. It was all my Pentium 100 could
handle until Communicator 4.0 came out. Even then it was more stable on my
system than Netscape's current offering (admittedly my winsock connection
is a bit gerry-rigged - and that's a understatement).

This is totally off topic, but...

Is it just me, or was not html originally designed to be a language
that could be read usefully with any browser? Or even with just an
editor? People seem to have missed the point of it.

Spot on Jim, the commercial imperative is f****** it all up, MS just
couldn't let the world benefit, they had to have a piece of the action.

Just for the record about 85% of all visits to the sites I run are on
Netscape Browsers, of which (off the top of my head) about 40% are not
Netscape 3 or later.

Cheers

Most of the visitors to the League Express site use Netscape 1 or 2.
About 15% use something else, usually Netscape above 2, IE or Lynx. I've
even found a few accesses through Mosaic!

If I can't see it with Lynx from a VT-100 terminal screen then I don't
use it at all and the object of the site is defeated.

But most sites are gearing up for applications used in the latest
release of browsers, when only a small number of most audiances have
them!!!

I get niggly because I use Lynx on a vax. Lynx is pure text: it can't
display pictures nor even tables. It can do frames, which means I can
hunt around most sites with it, but I don't see the prettying up. I do
see the ***that goes with the prettying up though.

Html was originally supposed to be about making information accessible
to anyone in a standardised way. We are moving towards a situation where
people spend their time worrying about how pretty their site is and not
about what use it is. And so the average signal-to-noise ratio of sites
is plummeting.

Fair comment Jim but image was (IMHO) a natural evolution for WWW and
opens the whole thing up to the wider public.

To leave things as text only is rather like reducing the whole WWW to
the lowest common denominator.

I particularly dislike the mis-use of frames.

I would like to see commonality of standards W3C should do something to
bring standards in line, have as high tech as you like but one browsers
can read all, make everything backward compatible with everything else
too.

I have no problem with images. Lynx handles them fine. It's when people
do things like reading coordinates on an image and using them to access
a page that text browsers like Lynx can no longer cope.

The thing that really gets my goat is when you download a web page and
it says "Best viewed with Netscape 3.0. You don't have it. Go away."
It runs totally against the whole reason for HTML.

This is getting well off topic. :-)
