Apparently you're going to sign our Aussie full-back Jay Laurance on
Monday....

In the papers tomorrow night, remember where you heard it first...

But is he any good?

What is the overseas quota these days?  I'm sure another Aussie would put
us over.  Unless someone is about to go back.  Or maybe someone is on his
way to another club?

it's def. on, was in the Evening News tonight too...

He looked really good in the First Division when he played last year,
big time try scorer. Only played once for us this year  I think, had a
well dodgy ankle prob. You've enquired about him apparently cos we've
signed Broadbent.

check out www.reds.co.uk/squad.htm for more info on him....

He was when he played for Huddersfield a few years back.   He scored a
wonder try against Hunslet from 90 yards out, and his haircut made him
look like a player from the 50s, which was cool.
Scored twenty tries in a season from full-back.

But todays Teletext said the Giants were interested, although we already
have three full-backs.  Is there any more news from up north on this
matter?

Yeah Salford have released him now and Huddersfield and Hull have both
offered him deals. Hull initially wanted him on a month's loan but now
he's a free agent I guess that's out.

He's also just come off the overseas qouta apparently so he'll be a
good buy for one of you too. Bizarre decision from Salford cos even
though we've bought Gary Broadbent we're hardly b*** with
full-back cover as highlighted several times on telly this year.

Apparently he was a pissed off with Salford signing Broadbent just as he
got fit. he trained at the Boulevard last Thursday, and then signed when
Tim agreed to match his terms, he joins 4 other superleague recruits, see

That's a laugh as he hadn't got fit all season. When we played Oldham
he got skinned over 40 yards by their sub foward (is it Anderson)
twice...

Maybe the slower pace of Division One will suit him. I don't think we
should have released him though. There was money to be had there.
