What no O'niell's?

Post by Unswor » Mon, 08 Jan 1996 04:00:00

As with so many other aspects of British Rugby League these days, thsi
newsgroup seems to have recently been dominated by the misplaced Cougars.

Last week - all thanks to Widnes for defeating Salford and keeping the
Cougars divisional championship hopes alive. Then ... WHAM!!! SILENCE!!!!!

Where's the thanks Mr O'niell & Son???  ;-P

Up the Chemics!!! The club that REALLY deserved to be in Super League.

Cheer up guys, this isn't a real season anyway.

Cheers,

(it's my Brithday today - thanks for the cards)

The Cougars can never be silenced.  Let's refer back to the Super League farce in (was it) april
?!  It was the Cougars who started the ball rolling..... only after we kicked up a fus did Cas, Fev &
widnes join in..... so Ged, that's why we keep talking, because everyone else is too silent !

I refer to my previous statement... we're back !!!!!!!!!!

OK all credit to Widnes on a thoroughly superb performance on sunday.  But let's not forget the
fight back that the Cougars put up... 0-16 for the first 50 minutes; final score 12-16 not bad really.
Please consider that up to date we have 8 regular first team players out, and this season 10 of
the full time squad have been under the surgeons knife: hence the lapse in the latter few games !

I know that's what I keep telling myself !

It was so short lived they prob. didn't get time to post :). Maybe the
electric's off in Keighley. Maybe they've stopped winding the generators
in the workhouse.

: Erm, that's not quite true. Cas were arguing against the merger
: (different subject) and Widnes and Featherstone (and Salford) were all
: in the Super League plans initially in one way or another. It's only
: when the rules were changed again (to accomadate the likes of Oldham :(
: that Widnes, Fev and Salford had true reason to moan

The likes of Oldham?
I think that picking teams that would not be '*** boys' of a possible
Super League was the fairest way of sorting the whole farcical situation
we had a few months ago out.
To be honest, Widnes were a major power a few years ago, and just to have
them in the Super League because of what they were is not fair to other
teams who would make the top division more unpredictable.

Quick question:
name the 2 teams to beat Wigan in the Centenary season?

Isn't one of them the likes of Oldham?
And being beaten by only 2 points at Headingley last night is not
all that bad either is it?

Sorry, but Oldham are there on merit.

Keith

Hang on!

Widnes were never relegated. London never promoted. Paris didn't exist!

Widnes have been the most consistent club side for the last 20 years, that
must mean something. I know it's no use moaning now we're out, but fair
do's Widnes did not deserve to be dumped from the Super League plans in
anyones eyes except perhaps Lindsay's.

It was unfair and downright upsetting. So there!!!!

Then why are the teddies in there now?

Correct. They should be in there on merit, but weren't given the chance to prove
themselves before being dumped.

After excruciating matches against Widnes and Halifax knocked everything out of
them.

Better than being completely whacked by Widnes, a supposedly inferior team.

Doubt it. Doubt it very much. I think they are there on geography, and soon to be
booted out when either Widnes, Salford or Keighley get promoted next year. Let's
face it Keith, you're talking through your hat.

Hmm..I think you'll find that Huyton/Runcorn/Highfield are the most
consistent club in the last 20 years....
