About Wigan:
It's now clear that Wigan tried desperately last winter to offload as many
contracts to Union as possible. That includes Connelly and Jason Robinson -
presumably Wigan wanted to con some cash from the Union clubs rather than
just let them disappear to the ARL.
Just how they think they can survive without at least one more prop to
spell O'Connor and Cowie defeats me.
About Warrington:
Beating Wigan says more about Wigan than Warrington. Wolves is another side
that need props. Sell Harris and buy a couple to cover the injuries. And
get a coach.
About London:
Offiah will look better now he has Edwards. But what a liability in
defence. Come to that, neither centre looks that secure. Perhaps Edwards
should go to stand-off and Tullet to centre, moving one centre out in place
of Offiah.
About Sky:
Just when I had got into the routine of Wednesday's roundup, the show gets
moved to Sports3. To add insult to injury, Sports1 shows . . . well, look
at the schedules.
About Wigan again:
Connelly is a shadow of his former self. Henry Paul is desperate to look
even an ordinary player. Robinson is hardly a threat any more. Something
must have gone terribly wrong with their off-season training.
About miserable SOBs:
Well, if saying that League players get none of the attention and praise
they deserve from the media, which still treats the game like it's a ***
disease: if saying that these players and their sport are let down by the
myopia and "big-fish/small-pond" mentality of administrators and supporters
makes me a miserable SOB then so be it.
