Hull Sharks to sign Gibbs

Post by mart » Thu, 23 Apr 1998 04:00:00

News today from the Sharks camp, Hull have spoken to Gibbs,
and will be speaking to Quinell soon. Also Holgate is on the
list of players to strenghten the squad. It is also possible that Wright
will become a Shark player on a week to week basis.
My tips where reasonable this week, so here goes for the weekend:
Fax / Cas, Fax to win by 6.
Hudders / Sheffield, could be a first for Hudders but I think Shef by 6.
Hull / Bulls, Hull by 6.
Saints / Warr, Saints by 15+.
Wigan / London, Wigan by 20+
Leeds / Sal, Leeds by 15+. Sal should have lost by 10 last weekend at

To close to call but Huddersfield mapi it.

Sorry but the Bulls will get back on track this week

Anything other than a Saints win will surprise.

Bulls to edge a close game. Bradford have a lot of players missing this
week.

I think Wire will edge this as well. If they play like they did against
London and Saints play like they did for 60 minutes against the Giants
then I can't see Saints winning.

The Bulls looked scared of their own shadow at Sheffield. Hull won't be as
generous as the Eagles - they wouldn't dare to be with the Boulevard sold
out - , so I take Hull to win, but by single figures.

Wire/Saints

I think Saints should have finished sulking about their pay deal by now.
Wire were flattered by some helpful refereeing, and in the pack only
Chalmers want's the ball.
Saints to win. Just.

I agree. They're still playing well. This should be an excellent game.

I think John Kear will have told the team to stop farting about and play for
places at Wembley.  Sheffield by at least 6.

I hope it's as little as 20. 50 may be more realistic.

Leeds to win by a few more than that. The forwards have it - though Salford
have a lot of potential in the backs.

With the possible exception of Nigel Wright, i think you'll draw a blank
here.

Scott Gibbs won't leave South Wales again for anyone or anything.  David
Lloyd would have to go some to match the silly money Quinnell's on at
Richmond, though I'm sure Richmond would be mightily relieved not to be
paying that salary for someone who's been almost as unenthusiastic for them
as Ben Clarke. Besides, if the rumours of a Wales SL franchise next year
mean anything both will hang on for that.

Wigan worked too hard to get Holgate, and I can't see them parting with such
a good forward.

Gibbs = fat useless bloke who nicks taxis and kebab vans (depending which
rumour you've heard)
Quinell = very very very fat useless bloke who doesn't nick taxis

I should try strenghening the squad with good players if I were you.
Gibbs and Quinell won't help this season cos they won't be fit until next
year, even if you sign em tomorrow.  Oh, and you have to pay two transfer
fees on Gibbs cos he's still a St.Helens player as well as an RU player.

You mean Sharks employee. Player? perhaps once a season.  For two minutes,
until he gets tackled and injured.

Huddersfield easily (ooh - a bit of optimism there!)

Easily, first real test for the Sharks in SL.

: >Saints / Warr, Saints by 15+.

They'll  have to do better than last week when they ***against the
mighty Fartowners - ***y lucky to win there

London are *** this year so far.  Serves em right for aving a tab half
back
