Yes I can tell you , and the answer is yes.

South Wales is the only one agreed to.  Although other clubs i.e Hull,
Huddersfield (incorporating Dewsbury and Batley) and Burnley ***Heads
(sorry I mean Keighley Cougers) are putting cases forward.   Oh, and there
are even rumours of a merger between Workington, Whitehaven and Carlisle.

However, I doubt if there will be any more clubs fast tracked "this
season" due to the RFL having to work out how the Murdoch dosh would be
divided up differnently one more time.

Which ones?  The play-offs start in September.  Regal trophy seems to have
disappeared.  There is no CC this season the next is (becoming) a
pre-season comp by the look of it and will precede next season.

Dont be daft.  Or should I say, if they have, the RFL have screwed up the
publicity.

Me to.  In the past at least could count on the various competitions
taking place at the same time each year.  You might not know how many
divisions we we here going to have etc but at least the competitions were
as "normal".

For the first time I think when most fans are asked what is going on, the
best they can do is speculate.

Which if any clubs will be fast-tracked to the super league?

When are the cup competitions taking place?

Have all of these issues been decided and set in stone? Does the RFL know
what is gowing on? becasue I don't and alot of people I talk to do not.

Maybe you would not want the wedge next season, but what about after that?

Aha, but remember that we (Huddersfield) have said we don't want any more Murdoch wedge
if they fast-track us. I suspect very strongly that if the Kirklees merger (Oh, no! Not
more ***y Kirklees) is agreed, then we'll get fast-tracked as a kick up the bum to
everyone else thinking about mergers.

I would suspect that a major factor in the lack of any clear announcement
about promotion/relegation (apart from the usual RFL incompetence) is that
they've been waiting to see if the final league positions work out
conveniently.  For example, if Paris had finished bottom of SL, they would
have decided, in response to the demands for more teams in SL of course,
not to have any relegation this year.  Since it's going to be Workington,
relegation can go ahead as planned.  Likewise, they wouldn't want to
announce the promotion of two clubs from the first division instead of
one, until they were sure a suitable team (Hull?) would finish second.

Or perhaps I'm completely wrong?

The problem with fast tracking clubs into the Super League is will they
be able to complete at that level.  There is a vast gap between the top
and bottom of the team within the Super League itself, never mind
between different divisions.  South Wales are not even the top of the
Second division but they are going to complete with the likes of St
Helens and Wigan next season.  This is not meant to be having a go at
all the other teams (my team, Castleford, have played totally ***all
season!!!).

Is fast tracking trying to grow the game too quickly?  It seems to be
the case if you look at Paris (I know they are playing a domestic
competion in France at the same time).

But not till 1998.

If you're gonna have mergers they should form a big, well-known side
that will attract neutrals...ie Salford + Swinton = Manchester, er
United (spit)
