The ugly *** is still a great player and has got to be GB's No.7
against the aussies. Pity Wigan didn't have him against the Broncos he
would have caused them problems instead of Farrells 'let's just kick in
the air and see what happens approach'.

Edwards GB no.7

Who else could it be?

Well, even half fit Shaun showed what a class act he is against the
Raiders.

Does anyone now have any doubt that he is no. 1 choice scrum half for
the upcoming test series?

Smith, who seems to be favorite for the spot, has done well for Wigan
and if he had played v the Broncos we may even have scored a try but
he is not in Edwards class.

All the more reason to pick him.
At Wembley in 1994, it kind of goes un remarked that his high tackle saved
a near certain try for Clyde. Espescially from the guy in a bradford top
behind me wh just shouted "Oy Shaun yer stupid cunt" in as yorkshire an
accent as he could muster.
Was that you Mr Gotface killah?

Only if he's 100% fit if not well Smithy's the choice (if fit). I don't
believe we should be playing Edwards especially if he can only give us 20
mins.
There is no doubt that SE is the the best half back we have when he is fit.
Over the last few years he has been a little susceptable to injury.
(By the way did I miss it Dave or am I still waiting)

I would not pick any player who is not 100% fit but given the choice of a fully
fit Edwards or a fully fit Smith *currently* I go for the former.

I would disagree partly.    Yes I would pick Shaun if not 100% fit, so long
as he's fit enough for just half a game.  Evne an unfit Edwards is better
than Smith in most respects apart from speed.

Shaun is a great organisor, motivator, tactician and play maker.
Smith is just fast and occasionally a good play maker, not much else.
But Smith and Wright together do look like our best bet against the
Aussies.  Perhaps with Edwards on the bench if Smith or Wright get
injured or loose confidance.  Also Edwards on the bench is a large
psychological play for GB as he often beats the Aussies and they would
be worried about him comming on and therefore distracted.

No probs with that view point. It worked for TC against Canberra.
Although he did seem to start to feel the old hamstring before half time
according to the commentary & as he didn't start the game, that doesn't
auger well for the Ashes.
They are a going to be a damn site more intense than the VWCC so if the
Aussies know he's injured it could back fire.
After his comments on Monday night though, I think Bradley Clyde is
praying that Edwards is picked for the Ashes.
