RL: SUPER LEAGUE'S LAST-DITCH BID
LEAGUE SUPER (SYDNEY)

New Ltd makes its last-ditch bid in Sydney today to secure Super
League's future.

An urgently convened Full Bench of the Federal Court will hear
argument from News Lted on why orders banning Super League until
the end of the century should be stayed.

Under the orders handed down on Monday by Justice JAMES
BURCHETT, News Ltd has until 3.30 pm today to notify all Super
League players that they must return to their old Australian Rugby
League clubs.

Also today, the ARL hopes to announce March 22 as its
premiership kick-off date.

The ARL has invited all 20 clubs to the meeting to discuss the
season's draw following JUSTICE BURCHETT'S orders.

But the rebel clubs have already indicated they won't attend any
such a meeting until the court has sealed their fate for the coming
season.
