Coaches can't slag off refs

Post by WiganRLf » Sat, 21 Feb 1998 04:00:00

Coaches have been asked not to slag off refs in public but to use the "proper"
channels if they have a problem.

If this is not an admission that there is a problem with the standard of
refereeing I don't know what is.

Can us lowly fans slag them off?

Andy (Beetroot Boy) Gregory will burst a post match *** vessel next

Well it works well for RU clubs not criticising anybody or anything for the
loss.  Rah rah.. Hooo-***y-ray for thw winners...

Seriously I think this could be a good PR move for RL in the UK.
But to go alomg with this the complaint proceedure and discipling of
refs should also be improved and everyone told how it will work.

How about a points system for bed reffing decisions and after so many points
the ref is suspended for a game or two.  After so many suspensions he is fined
and possibly relegated to div 1 or lower, until he drops down to
reffing amatuer
games and then none at all.

Also intrucions and post match conferances must be held for refs to
see what they
did and discuss the reasons why they made good/bad decisions.

It it is handled right it could be good.  But this is RL we're talking about.

I read in last Fridays YEP that John Connolly has been axed from this
weeks 5th round SCCC matches because of his performance at the
Rhinos/Tigers match. Couldn't have happenned to a better referee.

If this happenned after every round of matches there wouldn't be any
referees left to officiate IMO. :-)
