Last post from the house of talc prior to the Saints game. You probably
all know Offiah is not going to play. I am advised he is not 100% fit
and should the paperwork be completed in time would only have played
part of the game.
I think the Broncos management played it out as long as possible to
exploit the media coverage of the event. I have seen reference to the
transfer all over the place on national and local media.
I guess they have brought 50-100,000 worth of PR already so the
transfer fee is looking cheaper by the minute. Offiah will also increase
the profile of the club and put a few hundred (if not more) on all the
remaining home gates so I guess the club will recoup a large part of the
transfer fee in PR and increased ticket and merchandise sales by the end
of the season even if Offiah were to be crap. If he plays well then
300,000 looks very cheap for such a big name.
Good Business Barry.
Remember we are playing for the big prize in London; long term perhaps
two or three SL teams (North, South and West) each drawing crowds upto
40,000, perhaps a purpose built rugby stadium (45,000) shared by two of
the clubs (I have a dream).
We'll think about Edwards if he is at a realistic price, although I
suspect our two new signings represents our final push for this season.
I think we'll beat Saints, if we get up for it and they beat us god luck
to them I just don't think they are up for it.
