It was also announced yesterday that Jonathan Griffiths has moved from
St. Helens to LLanelli on a free transfer.

        Oh, I think League's had all his best stuff now they can safely
        let him push off back to the valleys.  I'm a bit surprised if only
        because given the luck of the Welsh just lately he'll almost
        certainly sustain a broken leg in his first game which will halt
        his career ;)  

        It will certainly be interesting though...

err? surely some mistake here?
Wasn't it the RU that prevented a free gangway between the codes?
As far as I am aware, the RL has been trying to BREAK the RU ban on their
players for around about 100 years.
.. perhaps I missed something?

True, and the way I understand it, the English RU are still not allowing it.

Well not exactly any RU player could  take up league no player was officially
prevented from going to union.

Where restrictions were placed (and still do) occurred in returning to union.

I think this is perfectly acceptable.

Though where players happened to have a trial for a RL side but decided against
taking it up or were not successful in being signed up, was clearly wrong.
