Leigh will be very disappointed that they didn't pick up their first points
of the season after being just 22-20 down with under ten minutes left.
Trinity were big but not particularly impressive although their extra
fitness told in the last quarter.

I refuse to comment on ref Conolly except he was  as bad as usual.  Man of
the match was undoubtedly on-loan Anthony Murray whose electric pace and
willingness to tackle at loose forward means that Leigh will do well to hold
onto him for long.

Hopefully the first win of the season will not be too far away as Leigh were
never outclassed, but injuries continue to pile up which will expose the
lack of depth in future matches.  If only the RFL would give us 390000 a
season instead of a pathetic 90000.  Because there is no way looking at
this match that Trinity are worth 300k more.  But who said Rugby League was
fair ?

It was a close game like you say but now that Saf is out for the season Keith
really needs to sort out his halfbacks.

I also think it is time for Mr Higgins to invite bids for his position.
Maybe, just maybe someone with a little money behind him might be interested.
He must be the only full time chairmen in the RL and therefore he possibly no
longer is thinking wholly of the club.  To his credit he did that when he was
saving us from extinction, but it really is time for him to step aside if there
is someone else interested.  We can only hope.

This trend seems to be repeated a lot.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Leigh finish third in Division Two last
season?  I imagine the Leigh board were pleased when they were invited,
along with Widnes who should have been relegated, to play in the First
Division this season.  If they had reservations about being able to compete
then perhaps they should have declined the offer and stayed in the Second
Division with the Batley.

I imagine Batley would have turned down the offer (not)!!!!!!

They too would have assumed that they would receive 1st division money as the
Murdoch money was budgeted for five years and allowed for 11 teams in Div1.
Where do you think the missing money is?  Just ask Maurice and his family!!

I wish Leigh had stayed down in division two if only to give us an extra
home game this season. This year second division fans can look forward
to only seven home league matches and four home ties in the red/white
rose cups. The opportunities for clubs to generate revenue through the
turnstiles and from match sponsorship etc are greatly reduced and could
possibly see some clubs going to the wall. Not that the chairmen of
Leigh and Widnes will lose any sleep over this as they steer their clubs
to the next financial iceberg on the horizon. After all somebody will
come along and bale them out of trouble ...... again.

Not much evidence of that as yet

Give them time... They've only just left Southampton.
