SUPERLEAGUE PROGRAMMES

I understand that the superleague clubs will all have the same matchday
programmes with their own bits inserted. Could anyone post their opinions
over this product when they have had the chance to peruse it over the
weekend? I'd be interested and grateful.

I remember 10-15 years ago the same thing happening among the lower
league football clubs, it was garbage. Its part of the experience of an away
game seing what bumf they put in the programme, I remember reading 75% of a
programme that I'd read the week before.

I certainly had the chance to peruse it over the weekend (at the
Willows) and I wasn't impressed!  It calls itself Supermag or some such
nonsense and is supposedly halfway between a programme and a magazine.
The only way in which it is like a magazine is its price!  Two pounds!!
Last season, our progs at Salford were 1.20.  It certainly didn't have
enough extra content to warrant the extra money and didn't take me any
longer to read.  I think we can safely say we are being ripped off again
- why am I not surprised!

I have just heard Jack Robinson say that if Shaun Edwards wants
to,leave Wigan to be with his family, an appropriate transfer fee will be
required. Nice to see Jack being as pleasant as ever to the clubs greatest
player!

Its not often that I agree with OJ but Wigan have to ask for a fee for
Edwards. Yes he has been Wigans greatest player over the last 10 or so
years but he's been ***y well paid for it, and also he got his his wish
for a contract extension only last season.
If he had had an injury during training or the off season and was put out
of the game for good would he still want out of his extended contract or
would he expect it to be honoured. So credit OJ (even if it does hurt).

So you'd prefer to pay 1.20 for the pathetic rubbish Salford have been
churning out year after year?

I read it from cover to cover, enjoyed it, thought it was well put
together but a bit steep at 2 agreed. Fantastic cover though.

Hang on just a minute.

I am one of Edwards biggest fans but if he wants to go Wigan should get a fee.

He is worth a fortune to the Broncos in publicity alone.  Gates should go up
as well.  He has had a big testimonial (to which I was happy to contribute),
and a contract extension at his request.

But most of all, despite what the anti-Edwards brigade would have you believe,
he is a top player and clubs do not go around giving top players away.

What's more, Wigan's well publicised debts are partly due to building a top team.
Why should the Broncos get one for free?

Wigan will have to replace him.  On Sundays performance Murdoch is not up to
it.

Consider all of these facts and if Wigan want 150,000 for him, they ARE doing
him a favour by NOT asking for 250,000 which is what he is worth to the
Broncos.

Jack Robinson is absolutely correct  in wanting a transfer fee for
Edwards. Edwards has always been totally committed to Wigan RL
and even though I understand his request, you can't go giving away
your top organiser for free.

Robinson has said that they'd like 150,000 for Edwards, which is a
bargain !, so London would be getting him cheap anyway. For a
club that is having financial problems letting one of their prized
assets leave for nothing would be madness.

I think it was pretty lukewarm myself, but then again we did have the 12
page Evening Standard pull out and the excellent London Calling fanzine.

Thought the after match coverage was rubbish though.

I was darn sarth on Monday and got an Evening Standard from Euston on
Mon night. What was it, 5 column inches (something most of you lot will
be familiar with ;) mostly going on about Union...

Or did I miss something?
