Bulls - Best Supported Rugby League Team

Post by Dave Jenning » Mon, 07 Dec 1998 04:00:00

Hi all
I'm new to this group so thought i'd better introduce myself.
I,m a Bradford Bulls fan who hasnt missed many matches in the last few
years. Yes i did support them as Northern so i,m not a fair weather
supporter.
I just wondered if everyone shares my view that Bradford will be the main
threat to Wign in 1999. Last season we had the most terrible injury
situation with half our squad injured at one stage. They are all back now
and with the addition of henry paul, naylor and aussie recuits zisti and
withers who would dare to under estimate us .
Heres looking forward to plenty of verbal sparring over the next season!

Hi folks.

Do either of you two know of a Bradford Bulls mailing list out there? I dont
mean the official thingy that sends out updates to the web site and all
that. I mean a proper mailing list where fans send in there views, news,
rumours, etc, etc!!!
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Oh yeah, im in full agreement with ya here too. Watch out for the Bulls this
coming season. They will be good, very good. Almost unstopable!!??!!??<s>

Dave, I hate to say this (not!) but I think the only challenge you will be
to Wigan this year is one of warm weather deprivation.  Odsal stadium needs
heaters of some description!

Well Dave, I must respond to this load of old ***very quickly.  At
least St Helens, Leeds, Wigan and possibly Gateshead will finish above
you.  I sincerely doubt that anyone who knows what they are talking
about will share your view that the Bulls will be the main threat to
Wigan.  If London get sorted out and Halifax continue as they have done
you may once again find yourself struggling to get a top five place.

Admittedly last year you did have more than your fair share of injury
problems, but you still weren't expansive enough to cause a threat to
the elite sides in Britain as they could now tackle which knackered your
plans of playing with fif*** forwards (Robbie Paul and Paul Deacon not
included) and trying to barge your way to success as had happened the
year before.

Henry Paul is an undoubtedly world class player, and there are few of
them around in the UK at the moment.  With no disrespect to Scott
Naylor, he's not exactly a world beater and they are at least eight,
maybe ten centres I could name in the British game who I would rather
have instead.  Withers was getting rave reviews from Down Under so I'll
save my judgement on him for the time being as I will with Nick Zisti
(although he can't be all that bad as it was rumoured he was to be
Murray's first Leeds signing at the start of last year).

Once again, that attitude problem shines through as I have spoke about
before; 'We are better than everyone else and will refuse to acknowledge
anyone else' although I will admit this is not as apparent in non fair-
weather fans.

Interesting!  If they are all back then why did Matthew Elliott pull out of
the proposed fixture against Huddersfield saying he had too many injuries -
some excuse for what, if you are right, would have been a one sided affair
since the Bulls are obviously going to be the Bridesmaids to Wigan next
year in place of Leeds and Saints!

We'll see!!

Hi all again...I see my original posting created a few responses lol
Quite interesting some of them and I'll be pleased to say " i told you so"
:-)
Regarding the fixture against Huddesfield getting called off...Well i think
the xmas games are just a way of exploiting fans and are a waste of time!
Bradford refused to play last year also. It makes no sense trying to play a
competitive game of rugby league to entertain paying spectators when you are
about to start pre season training....Bradford are the best supported rugby
team and one of the most wealthy..we dont need to play this micky mouse
games to get a few bob in the bank!
Hope you enjoy the 2nd rate game at xmas...I'll wait for the real games to
start!

I wonder if this creates as much interest as my orginal posting lol

If you all hate the rhinos clap your hands!

PS What a silly name Rhinos! ...Who on earth thought of that? LOL

Well I'm not so sure, Bradford have a pretty good half back pairing, a
good enough kicker to take advantage of the 20/40 rule, what about the
pack???

Now, now, steady on. Hate is generaly caused by fear. Now, do Bradford Bulls
fear Leeds or anyone else for that matter? It seems many clapped their hands
when that other bloke stated "If you all hate Bradford clap your hands!"
Humm,,,,no, sorry,,,I wont be clapping my hands at this one. I'll save the
hand clapping, cheering, shouting me lungs off etc, etc, for when Bradford
stuff Leeds home and away and finish in the top 3 this coming season<s>.
Cheers!!!

Paying spectators?  Since when?

I wouldn't have thought so.  Mind you, it's good to see a Bulls fan come
out with something different from "Come on you Bulls".

Quote:

>PS What a silly name Rhinos! ...Who on earth thought of that? LOL

There was a newspaper poll to decide the name, although it was decided
against using "Leeds Loiners" as they couldn't market a "Loiner".  They
claimed that "Rhinos" came second in the vote although I'm not so sure
myself.  My feeling is therefore that it was a combined effort between
Hetherington and Stuart Duffy.  It has caught on well with the Leeds
public and the bloke who thought of it is now working at your stinking
club, so insulting our name is merely insulting people employed by the
Bulls.
