Just heard it on the news. Apparently he was killed whilst in Nigeria
with his father or something.

Comments?

Er...very embarrassing. The woman on the radio at six tonight said it
was Martin Offiah himself who was killed. Now I'm hearing that it was
his father. Not very nice of the BBC, that.

Yeah

It was Offiah's father who was killed. Martin is still in London and is
scheduled to play in the Broncos' opening game

The BBC have once again done our game proud and showed exactly how much
they care about the sport.  Whilst mine, and I'm sure everyone else's
condolences go to Martin and his family, it looks to me like the BBC
have found themselves in a very embarrassing situation.

Don't blame you, nor for that matter the BEEB, at SOME publicity has come from
it!

Oh great - lets hope Shaun Edwards Dad cops it next week!  I wish some
people would engage their brain before attempting to be funny.

OK THEN!!!! Who dropped the ball and made a mess of the Story? The BBC of
course who have no ability to cover this game or get the correct story. This
was just another example of the INEPT way the BBC cover anything to do with
Rugby league. It most certainly would not happen with any other sport!!

AND I was NOT trying to be funny. I was making a serious point but also trying
to save some ones blushes. As you say "I wish some

Publicity for who? The Liverpool Echo reported it as Martin Offiah,
a rugby union player for London Broncos. At least they got the bit
about it being his father correct.

Condolences to Martin and Family.

You stated "at SOME publicity has come from it". ( I assume you meant
"as" or it does not make much sense)

So therefore you seem to be saying at least some publicity has come
from this which joke or not I found a pretty poor thing to say.

Or trying to be serious as well it would seem.

Oh well! No matter what it seems I have lost this one.

Probably saves ever complaining or trying to get any publicity for the game.
Whilst agreeing that the subject matter was not positive, considering the
amount the game normally gets in relation to other sports, it was something.

Pehaps this is where the game is failing. After some of the things seen, read
and heard recently I, and probably thousands of others, have become so
disillusioned with the game, other things are taking our interest.
