Leeds to sign 'Bad Boy' Harris

Post by RhinoFa » Thu, 03 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Leeds appear to have emerged from the pack to sign Iestyn Harris from
under the noses of the desperate Wigan. Does Dean Bell think he can tame
the Welshman? or was the money just burning a hole in Caddicks pocket?

Any Wire (sorry Wolves) supporters have any views?

I'm still disappoint that he isn't coming to Saints, but at least the Pies
haven't got him!

It seems Holroyd isn't destined to be Leeds stand off.  Bell will probably
play him at full back or scrum half now - and he isn't a scrum half.

Desperate my arse, daft more like.

If you had been talking about someone like Goulding or McDermott (either
version) then "tame" might be the right word but I never thought Harris was some
sort of wild boy.  Spoiled brat maybe, but if Bell playes him where he wants
I am sure he will do well for Leeds.

Ask yourself do they need another stand off, which is the question I was asking
myself when Wigan were seemingly interested.

If the answer is yes, then hes a good buy.  If not then its Leeds who are
"desperate" or daft.

Nice to find another Rhino fan joining the newsgroup. Surely with the support
we have in the "fastest growing city in the UK" there are more than 2/3 supporters
with access to the Internet.

As a Rhino fan I'm not convinced that Harris is the answer to our prayers,
especially at 350,000. Does he get injured as often as Kemp? Is he that much
better than Holroyd?

There was talk in last nights YEP that Newcastle RU were after Holroyd.

Sorry to go completely off the thread but, have you been to the White Rose
Centre yet?  Is it any good?  How does it compare to Meadowhall?  I drove
past it on the way home from work tonight and was going to go in but, er,
didn't.

I've been (being a part-time Leeds resident!) it's great, well worth a
visit.  If only for the McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken next door
to one another.

Don't know, never been there.

Mmm is there a rec.out.of.town.shopping newsgroup?

Went yesterday. It's OK if you like that sort of thing. I only get dragged along
so I can carry all the bags for the wife and 3 kids. It's not as big as Meadowhall
but I think it will be pretty busy. Took 15 minutes to get parked but at least it's
free. Much better than going into the centre of Leeds.

I also drove past on Tuesday.  Aren't Wakefield having a bad few weeks
though?

I'm drifting off the subject a little here Dave but that was Brian
McDermott's first sending off of his career. Hardly the wild man of the
north.
