Oh dear, Wigan have lost as well

Oh dear, Wigan have lost as well

Following on from Leeds below par performance yesterday, it seems that Wigan
are in no greater shape at the moment either. It would have been an
injustice if Leeds had nicked it at the end at Odsal yesterday but an even
bigger injustice if Wigan had done so today. I thought St Helens were well
worth the two points and IMO should have won the game comfortably. Does
anyone have any idea why Sean Long wasn't kicking today?

What does seem clear to me is that no team in SLE are going to run away with
things this season and the scramble for top five spots is going to be very
competitive - I believe the top placed team could well lose about five, six,
or even seven games. Furthermore, I don't think it is a worthwhile exercise
to be writing off teams chances at this early stage of the season, despite
the fact that both Leeds and Wigan have already lost 50% of the number of
games they lost in total last season.

There seems to be a lot of teams looking very tired and weary at the
oment  - Wigan looked knackered as did Bradford and Leeds yesterday. I
wonder how they are all going to shape up in a few days time? What on earth
are we doing playing 30 games a season plus the play offs and the SCCC? When
will we ever learn that one game a week is more than enough. I'ts quality we
need not quantity.

Looking forward to more shock results as the season progresses - speaking of
shocks, I see that Brisbane have now played 5 and lost 5 in the NRL, and I
still wouldn't write them off either.

Regards

Jeff.

Resting a minor injury I think.

Quite right.  Leeds coach Murray is right to complain about two games
over the Easter break.

This sort of thing was fine a few years back but just silly now.  We
can't expect players to back up like this and deliver the kind of
games we have seen to date thus season.

With 30 games, some of which are mid week fixtures, I think by the end
of the season the quality will be well down with most of the sides
playing the walking wounded players to make up the first team.

It will be interesting to see if the shock results are down to one
team outplaying another or just being less knackered.

....fair enough:Saints, eg, now have 3 punishing games in one
week......but on the other hand they DID have 2 weeks off,
prior to this.
Strikes me this is just BAD PLANNING by the RFL
...and how old is the season now,anyway....yet Saints
have had only one home game!!!!!
Crazy!
