Leeds/Cowboys Superclub

From the Sporting Life site...what's going on here then....

Leeds Rhinos are hoping to link up with North Queensland
Cowboys - the team who beat them at the weekend in the
Visa World Club Championship - and form rugby league's
               first 'superclub'.

Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington has already
proposed the idea to the Cowboys after being struck by
               their professionalism.

He wants Leeds' marketing department to become
involved in an exchange of ideas and personnel with

their  counterparts at the Townsville-based club.

"We have still much to learn about every aspect of
running a modern-day rugby league club from the
development of young players to the marketing and
commercial side, and there is no better place to learn
than
here," Hetherington told the Yorkshire Evening Post
from
               Australia.

"I have been so impressed with the way they do things
out
here and the Cowboys are at the forefront of so much
that is good in the Australian Super League.

"Every aspect of the club is so professional and their
match-day presentation is unbelievable. The pre-match
entertainment puts everything we do in England in the
               shade."

Wigan were talking about doing the same last season with Auckland
Warriors.

Nothing came of it.

Thing is if you read on, it doesn't really say much other than "we're
going to put on the sme pre-match" entertainment. Now I dunno about
you but how much better could it be than what Bradford and Salford do
already??

Its a gut reaction to losing brought on by a bout of self doubt and a
splash of reality. It won't come to anything, except perhaps another
boating accident!

Bradford Yes, great show. Salford Oh dear a few Salford girls dancing in
their slippers and a big duck with an identity crisis. I guess the
fireworks couldn't be much louder or the police would come running with
active response units.

Paul (yes i do know Salford I've lived there for four years and worked
there for eight!)

Where was the last riot in our country again? Ahhhh Leeds. That world
renowned friendly city.

ID Crisis? Sorry don't understand?

Bradford fans seemed to like it or don't you read the rest of this
NG...but then they weren't shouting "I'd rather be a Paki than a Bull"
like the Leeds fans were were they?

And Leeds birds are sooooo much more classy that Salford girls eh???
No you're right, you're absolutely right.

Peter Fox said on the radio that knowing Gary Hetherington, he thought
it was just a ploy to get some Aussie players!

: Peter Fox is a tit.

He seems to have it in for Hetherington for some reason. Just after he
was sacked from Bradford he was having a right go at him on Radio Leeds.

Peter Fox was behind the times ten years ago.
Radio Leeds employing a dinosaur like him.

Christ, they must be stuck in a time warp.

The worst thing, though, is that he's used as an "expert" summariser on
5 Live. Now that must put over the right image over the rest of the
country. :-)

It may be that, with Peter being fairly famous in Rugby League, and Radio
Leeds being a media organisation, and Peter just having been sacked from
Bradford, that he was being interviewed for the purposes of a programme
rather than for a job.

If it was for a job I should think it's poor form for them to have
broadcast it in the way they did. Bastards, eh?
