by match tomorrow afternoon against landlords Streatham Croydon RUFC at their
ground. The game kicks off at 2pm.
We've been let down (not unusual in the London League) but this time by the
refs. We have noone who can referee the League half of the game. Unless we
can get someone who knows how to get a team back 10 yards and keep the
opposition straight at the play-the-ball, then we're at the mercy of the
cheating union swine.
So this is an emergency call to all League fans/players who might be able to
help. A bit of a long shot I know, but if you reckon you know the rules and
can measure 10 yards, then please get yourself down to Frant Road, Thornton
Heath tomorrow between 1 and 2 and bring your boots. Ask anyone for Julian,
and they'll point out the stressed-looking one.
It's a friendly match so there'll be no abuse, and we'll be so pathetically
grateful that we'll not only give you the normal 15 referee's fee, but
probably buy you a fair few drinks too !
If we manage to find a ref between now and then, you get to watch the match,
and I'll buy you a drink anyway.
So, here's hoping the London League fraternity can help out. Just think, all
those times you shouted at the ref and thought you could do better....here's
your chance !
