No-one will lend a helping hand: the RL has no money, and they haven't a
hope of a Super League franchise unless they merge with Hull.
I lived in Hull and know how bitter the rivalry is between Airlie Birds and
Robins. So I know I'm just dreaming when I think there could be one Hull
team, ruling the Super League from that big empty soccer stadium wasted on
the soccer club.

Hull KR and New Craven Park is certainly COLD!!!
Just give me the name of the architect who thought it was a good
idea to have the ground open-ended at the dockside end!!!

Sadly the demise of beloved Cougars has begun and the "dream"(for
thats all it was) of the SuperLeague will on this occasion NEVER
HAPPEN. We have no one to merge with.

<< Hull KR have been spending more than their income for years. They made
the
terrible mistake of moving from a bad stadium to a worse one. S they have
debts of 1m, and a winding up order from the Inland Revenue for 250,000.
They hope to go into administration.
Helloooooooooooooooooooo
Spending more than your income leads to ....... Bankruptcy!!!!!!!!!!!

But just try owing money to the taxman. He wants his pound of flesh and
he'll make sure he gets it!
It really cheeses me off to see Barrow struggling on the pitch whilst we
get
our finances in order and other clubs just carry on regardless signing
players they can't afford and turning a blind eye to mounting debts.

Not paying the tax is unbelievably stupid, and yet so many RL clubs do it.

Believe me, it's the best way. Nothing compares to the trauma of
administration. It was a nightmare a couple of years back when Fartown
were in that situation.

It does seem that many of the problems the club faces are of their own
making, especially having gone from the first to third divisions.
When relegated from the old first division they had three games to go and
needed to win all three. They beat Wigan in the first game quite
convincingly, then went to Salford, and upto half time were unbeatable,
then fell apart in the second half and got hammered. The last game they
went to Widnes and again won well. Having seen the games I am not sure
what was said at half time at Salford, but it seemed like they wanted to
get beaten, and relegated as a consequence.
Then the season before last they had a reasonable run going. Maurice
announces Super League and the merger with Hull RLFC, and they then lost
every game til the end of the season, and ended up in the third division.
Now of course all the problems are laid at the feet of the fans by the
club, apparantly its my fault for not going to every game anymore, but
who want's to go to watch a club that is far too good for the division
its in. Also summer rugby is nice, but there are too many other
distractions in summer, even a British summer.
IMHO the best thing to happen would be for the club to fold. Then some
rich businessman to buy the assets of the club, and start afresh with a
clean slate. If no new buyer can be found then let the club fold, and
be an example to all other clubs, not just RL clubs, on what can happen
if clubs are not run properly.
I can't ever see a merger taking place, Rovers are in too weak a position
for it to be a merger of equals. A merger with Hull at the moment would
probably see the new club playing at the Boulevard, in black and white,
and be called Hull!!! Although there probably isn't a decent team
between the two sets of players for that matter.
I like the rest of your comments though, about playing at the Boulevard
in Black and White with a patch of purple or whatever...

What happens next will be very interesting both for Rovers fans, and for
sport in Hull in general. Despite the citys size Hull seems unable to
develop either a decent team, RL or football, or the support for even a
mediocre side. I remeber in the late seventies crowds at either Hull or
Rovers for a single game where larger than all three sides can muster
over a weekend!
How long before either Hull or City follow Rovers into administration?
Also who are these mysterious backers of whom rumours keep surfacing,
then disappearing? I can't ever see the Council ever backing a new
stadium, they seem hell bent on keeping Hull a backwater, don't forget,
they may make the offer, but I believe they are fairly confident that the
necessary mergers will never take place for that offer to be accepted.
Maybe if I get lucky on the lottery I could be the next mysterious backer
for Rovers, although I think I could find better ways to burn several
million pounds.
If Rovers do go out of business what happens to rhe stadium? Is there
enough money from the dogs and speedway to keep it open. Also how much
money was generated for Rovers by these sports?
