Brisbane 12 - 18 London

Amazing try first half. Offiah knocks on a few metres out from the
Brisbane line. Lazarus cops the ball behind his own line and takes a hit
from Rosolen to knock the ball loose and Beasly touches it down.

Right, quick dash back to the museum for the second half :^)

Thanks for the info.

Well 20 points difference...

I think the best team won, great defence from Brisbane not a little help
on the penalty count from the ref although we were playing our usual
games.....

High tackle on Offiah went unpenalised third Brisbane try appeared to be
forward.....

The crowd was strange, I heard it was a 50,000 sell out yet the figure
they gave on sky was 18,000.

If we hadn't knocked on so many times it may have been closer, still
fair result just slightly flattering score line.

If that's the best thar Oz have to offer i would say that Bulls and
Wigan would have a chance against them in Brisbane and a couple more
teams will test them away.

No real measurement of comparative standards yet, initial signs are that
one or two big mouthed aussies may have over estimated the invicability
of their teams. Just ask Tubby Taylor.

It's hard to be humble when you are the greatest.
There's nothing more noisy and gloating than a pom with his nose in
front.
The good news is you always set yourselves up for a big fall.
It's coming.

What!!!!!

Australia is a place of real contrasts, it has some of the nicest most
open minded and fair minded sports fans I have had the pleasure to meet.

This of course contrasts wildly with the big mouth arrogant Aussies who
are much more vocal than the reasonable majority.

An example, I remember meeting Marl Ella when I played Rugby in Italy,
he was without doubt one of the most complete rugby players I have ever
seen. At the time England were just emerging from the dark ages and were
starting to formulate a decent pack. Mark Ella spoke with real modesty
and honesty. Enter David Campese a man who had every excuse in the book
for his own failures, what Australia weren't going to do to everybody,
England were a joke, The Lions were a joke...

I have it on good authority that Ella would go out of his way not to
spend more time than necessary with Campo.

The reality is the Campese gifted the Lions a test series win, what did
Australians say about it???? Your papers made racist and childish
accusations about the three English policemen who took your "boys" to
the cleaners.

What were your papers saying about the Brisbane v London score 57
points? I think that says all people need to know about Aussies....

I heard some Oliver guy on the Test Match radio commentary yesterday
talking about Australia. What a joke, "if we had our best one day
players would have won the Texaco trophy....." "if we had knocked
England over for 120 that would have ended the series" Christ after
nearly a decade of Ashes *** he couldn't be objective.

Australia has an appauling reputation of sporting arrogance, not just in
the UK but across the world. Where we may have once been arrogant, we
have been kicked from pillar to post in just about every sport so that
humility has been forced upon us. Who on these newsgroups has been
saying an ESL team was going to win the WCC, at best Brits have spoken
about one or two teams having a chance.

No just the loudmoufs saying 30-40-50 points winning margins in games.
Poor boys.

You know I love seeing NZ teams playing Aussie teams at rugby union, you
know why? Its not because the NZ teams usually win, it's the way they
win, they win and loose with grace, with dignity, with pride, like
men....

Our papers here were not full of pundits predicting a 50-0 win to London
against Brisbane, know why? That's because we have a test match against
Argentina tonight in RU. Lion's are playing NT in South Africa this
afternoon, The Aussies are getting a hiding in the first test match
(England declared with a first innings lead of 360). England are playing
France tonight at soccer. In the pecking order of British Sports RL is
way down low whereas RH, Soccer and Cricket are much more popular. How
is your record against us in those sports?

And let's wait and see how N Qld and Adelaide do when they come to
England shall we...

I have no doubt of the quality of some of the others but remember it's
a massive step up in pace & class for our lads and a 12000 mile trip
doesn't help anybody as you're lesser equiped sides should find out...

Forget Auckland, everybody knows they're far better than bottom of
ASL...

It's proving a tall order at the moment for the ESL teams but remember
4/5 games have been in Oz so far and while I don't hold out any hope
for Cas, Paris and Warrington I think Bradford will be in there
tomorrow night.

Maybe you should stay on this newsgroup and add something of value.

The start of this debate was if any ESL sides can get within 20 points
of any ASL side.  That is the whole debate not if ESL is better that
ASL, not if Aussie players are better than POM players, not if an ESL
team will win the WCC but if any ESL team can the score within 20 points
(in the case of Brisbane and London I think it was 28).

Lets keep it simple, have you understood?

Did was Brisbanes winning margin less than 28 ?

Good need I say more.
