Same here. The last I heard was in England next Autumn.
I hope this isn't an early sign  that League is going to under-sell it
again.

Here here.  RL really under advertised and under sold one of the biggest
events in RL in England for the last 25 years, ie the World cup..
Even dedicated RL fans had difficulty in fing out match facts. (ie venues,
ticket prices and team news)  It was all done late and kinda rushed.
Look at the BBC coverage we had.  Short highlite progs late at night.
Even the RU club matches get more BBC coverage now.

Lets sell the game.  RL (Namely Maurice) cannot demand the attendance of
fans.  Rl must attract them.  That has been seen at the stark drop in
attendances this season at Wigan and the great increase at Bradford.

I would love to be a promoyions manager for RL (nameley for Wigan).
I would fill the ground every week, no problems.

I would also like to publicise the next World Cup in England.
Boy would I fill the grounds and televise every big match.
I would have Highlight progs, national advrts on ITV.
Newspaper adverts and radio adverts.  Come RL lets be proud of our
game and our history.  Lets shout about it.

Anyone agree...?

Ph!l.
Wigan RLFC..

Phil

You should be offered the job simply for your enthusiasm: something that's
been entirely lacking in the press and lack-of -publicity offices at RL
headquarters for some time.

You're absolutely right when you say that we should be getting everyone
e***d about the World Cup: we should be starting the build-up to next
March as well, and the first truly international SL season.

You don't think Australian clubs playing European clubs is international?

You don't know that Morocco and Japan are countries? Or you don't think
they should be allowed to play Rugby League ? Perhaps you don't want League
played outside Australia? Got a problem with foreigners altogether, perhaps
?

How many non-Australian clubs in the Optus Cup? Why is there no team for
Fiji, or Tonga, or Samoa, or PNG ?

I don't think for a moment even our best sides would have been made it to
the playoffs of the Optus Cup. But until we can have full-time professional
players, coaches, and marketing managers, we'll never catch up.

International? You don't want it. Why not turn ARL into an AFL, played in
one country?

Yes i would call that international...i simply dont beleive britain and
one french club as european....i thought europe consisted of more
countries than that.

Id like to see those countries play...but they are hardly
compeititive...and as most SL ppl hassle the ARL tests as farces...i
cant see it being different here.

None...but then the ARL didnt say they were anything but AUSTRALIAN
rugby league......if they claimed to be australasia (which they dont)
then it would be as accurate as euroeleague.

How do you know about AFL? and anyway AFL fans seem content...after
all....do international matches mean that much?

So a European competition isn't European until every country in Europe
has one club in said competition? Is the ARL Australian? They sure as
hell don't have clubs from every state and every city in their
competition. Is the European Community European? They don't have every
European country as a member state. Where do you draw the line?

Why? Super League has most of the Rugby League playing nations prior to
when SL was first mooted bar bits of PNG, bits of Fiji and bits of
Australia.

See above.

They do to me and seem to to you as well.

Pardon me, but I haven't spotted any AFL teams outside of Australia.

In which case, you watch your Sydney comp, and stop ***ing about those of
us who would like to see League become a worldwide sport.
You might not need internationals, but the rest of the world does: because
RL can only raise its profile when it escapes from the *** image of
being a game played on a 20 mile stretch of the M62.
