Steele Tackle Record

Read on Ceefax the other night that it has just been discovered that
Steele Retchless broke the Super League tackle record in the Broncos v
Bulls game with 66 tackles.  Some achievement in my book.  Also rather
typical of the admistration that it took them a week-and-a-half to
realise it.

Got me thinking that maybe the Super League marketing department should
start collating these sort of game stats and getting them sent out to the
national press.  Journalists tend to be lazy ***ics (allegedly) who
would probably be quite willing to print stories if SL start feeding the
information to them - rather than being left to go out and find it for
themselves.  These sort of stats are also a great advert for the game in
the way the demonstrate the tremendous physical achievements made by some
of the athletes involved

Cheers

Good idea - Simple A4 Sheet fronting the info Pack:

Top tacklers - Team : Leeds 256
Top Tackler - Indiv : Mick Cassidy 32

sort of thing? listing a few stats ( with explanations of the less obvious to
show how much happens in a game.

We should all remember that the hierarchy of untruth goes: +ACI-lies+ADs- damned
lies+ADs- and statistics+ACI-. This is RL, not NFL/AFL. The beauty of our game is
not enhanced with this stuff. And I for sure don't want the School of TV
Commentary to turn out Statto-type clo(w)n(e)s less the irony. Dangerous
shit, statistics. Bring back Eddie Wareing, I say. Oop 'n' oonder, Wiigaaan,
'Ell, 'Ull an' 'Alifax. Say I. The over-35s will get the references.

Jim.
