HERE COME THE HULL SHARKS....

KEIGHLEY 8  HULL SHARKS 18

Super match.  One of the best performances I've seen from Hull.  Keighley
were lucky to score 8.  And their ground was still intact at the end!!!!
(BTW, is the rumour true that shortly after the TWA jet crashed last year,
two suspicious looking characters in black/white hooped shirts were seen
running from the scene carrying something that looked like a rocket
launcher?)

Saints supporters may be interested in a quote from tonights programme...
"Do you think that the Saints fans who refused to move at half-time despite
instructions from Safety Officers had never heard the words Heysel and
Hillsborough?"

As everyone knows, the staff at Cougar Park are renowned experts in all
matters related with safety (NOT!).
What is it with these people from Keighley?  Do they always have to
complain about the visiting supporters?  You can't even get it right if you
just stand still now!
Anyway, I thought it was the movement in the grounds that caused the Heysel
and Hillsborough incidents.  Don't think there'd have been much of an
incident if everyone was standing still!!!

Well - this is the OFFICIAL version of what happened at Cougar Park.

The Keighley Official's announced 10 minutes before half time that fans
should not change ends at the interval.

As if oft the case - nobody including the Keighley fans took a blind bit
of notice and proceeded to swap round.

As nobody (I presume the Police and the Stewards were responsible) decided
to enforce this decision by blocking off each end a bottleneck resulted in
the middle of the ground.

Two Stewards decided (and rightly IMO) to allow the Saints fans to jump
over the wooden fence and make their way along the touchline towards the
opposite end.

The police immediately became agitated (why I'm not sure) and they all rushed
over to where the Saints speccies were walking on the pitch and then started pushing
them back over the fence.

This resulted in an even bigger bottleneck and consequently the restart was delayed
by twenty minutes.

There was no trouble whatsoever between either sets of fans and eventually the
match got underway once more.

Would anyone like to add anything to this?

I'm pretty sure I've got it right.

So it seems that yet again the Keighley version of the away supporters
behaviour bears no resemblance to reality.

I don't know what they were like when you were there but it seems that
'Cougarmania' is now reduced to half a dozen juveniles with an air horn
jumping up and down behind the goal singing "Cougars, Cougars, Boing!,
Boing!" !!!!!

What an imaginative song that was.

BTW, they did stop singing it when they realised they were getting their
arses kicked :-)

Well it depends on whether the stewards who allowed the Saints speccies
over the fence where acting under orders or on their own.

The Keighley fans were without a shadow of a doubt the best set of supporters
that I have ever stood with.

At no time in the match did they stop supporting their team and not one
Keighley fan walked past me toward the exit until after they had applauded
both sides off.

They are a credit to rugby league and put most other spectators to shame.

Agreed although they did start to get a bit bitter with us by the time
we kept beating them to a pulp and winning all the trophies they thought
they were going to win. :)

I know I shouldn't be concerned with Keighley events of the past but
you've set me off again now. In the programme when we played them there
last year there was some really stupid, *** remarks about Salford
supporters talking about crowd problems there of late and warning the
Cougar fans that basically Salford fans were just footy fans on a Sunday
trip out to cause trouble. It said "Listen to what the Salford fans are
singing today, you can be sure the songs have come straight from the
terraces of Old Trafford and Maine Road as have their fans" Words to
that effect.
This is bullshit. Coupled with that St Helens jibe in the Hull programme
it seems that someone needs to have a quiet word with the editor.
It's a pretty big high horse they're keeping at Cougar  Park and it
still seems that any time there's a big crowd common sense (and usually
parts of the ground) collapse and it turns into a farce.

We had the Boing Boing song performed at the Willows when they were
playing us. They also soon stopped when 4000 people turned round,
started pointing and pissing themselves.
