2010 Tipping League Round 27 RESULTS

Post by Wirral Sain » Tue, 07 Sep 2010 01:45:45

I have twice before led this competition going into the last
week of the competition and lost it on the last Sunday,
on both occasions to Jeff. It makes it feel really good to
finally hold on to my lead and to win the competition. I
know there is no trophy or prize for winning but it feels
like a real achievement to finally win it!!

On Friday night John Turner was only two points behind
me in the ladder with about 15 minutes of the matches
left, then the late tries by Bradford and Harlequins finally
swung things my way. After Leeds came from behind to
beat Hull I was finally home and dry!! Of course the
really neat thing about winning is that I can put the
signature at the bottom of my postings like Phil L ;-)

This competition has some tradition to it now and I
want to thank Gordon for starting it off and running it
for so long. We nearly lost the competition this year
until Lloyd offered to keep it running and after at first
saying I couldn't I found time to help him too.

I have been looking back at the names of people
who used to do the competition: Jeff of course, who
won it several times, Rusty Spokes, Easygoing Dave,
Dave Heaton and not to forget Erasmus!! There
must be other legends too whose names now escape
me!!

And if you use a newsreader instead of google froups, it automatically adds
the signature, outlook express is the obvious choice, but there are dozens
of others:

Congratulations to Wirral Saint for taking the title
in such a spectacularly suitable fashion!....though I
understand his apprehension with both John Turner
and Glynn closing right up behind him recently  :-)

...And many thanks to both Lloyd and WirralSaint
for rescuing the competition after old age and lost
marbles brought about my enforced retirement

God bless yer both

:-)

Fab compo yet again. Thx for running it so well and it is great to see
the names keep appearing. Miss Eras too. Re: my system ,  I posted
early so as not to get distracted by outside influences or favouritism
on my part. Well done to Wirral Saint and John Turner. I had two good
weeks the past fortnight , it was a really tough season to predict. A
cracking Super League this year. Good luck to all! Glynnpot x
