There were no competitions scrapped in 1982 but I wonder if you meant 1992
when both Lancashire and Yorkshire cups were scrapped.

The Lancs cup started back in 1905-06 when Leigh contested a 0-0 draw with
Wigan before losing the replay 0-8.

I don't think they had either floodlights or BBC2 in 1895.
