Need Running Back Advice, Please!

Post by Jason Skinne » Mon, 26 Aug 1996 04:00:00

I'm in a 10-Coach league with points for TDs and Yardage/Bonuses.  We start
2 RB's.  I have Warren, Eddie George, Hearst, Sherman Williams, and Kimble
Anders.  (I traded away Biakabutuka, but that's another story.)

Question: Is George going to play enough to be a regular starter for me, or
is he going to split time with other Houston RB's?

If Emmitt doesn't play in the first game(s), should I start Williams as my
second RB instead of George?

Has anybody heard if San Francisco is interested in Hearst?

Is Anders a completely wasted pick?  Should I dump him now and scramble for
a free agent RB?

Thanks in advance.

I would say the odds are in your favor <G>....one of those gambles has
got to pay off and having Warren is a big BIG plus. George will get a
chance early in the first few games to prove himself. If he does he could
be a big factor as a the lone back for a team that has to run. Hearst has
since moved to Cincinati and could be a good gamble there...we took him
ourselves  in the 12th round....so my prayers are with you there......
If Emmitt does not play the first game Williams would be a safe play.
Though I like to gamble in the first game and would probably go with
George....Yeah and I'm about 50-50 in those "gambles"....Anders..The KC
running back situation is up for grabs...IF age finally catches up with
Allen...(hope there is one more year left...I got em)....Hill is there
but doesn't look like he will ever be a big play back...now there is the
guy Bennet....I like Anders cause he can catch a pass and our league
rewards that.....Anders is a free agent in our league after the draft and
I am going to watch that first game real close......and I'll think of you

>For a while, he will share time with Thomas--Thomas is even listed as the starter. Still, George will get plenty of carries. He's p=

robably good enough to be a regular starter, but it may take him a few games to show it.

>Hearst is staying in Cinci. I heard from none other than Drew Rosenhaus on TV that Carter's knee still bothers him, and now his bad=

ankle is further slowing him. Hearst was acquired with this knowledge, and he could see significant time.

>Yup. He's a great blocker, for what that's worth to you. He also catches quite a few passes, but there are probably better free age=

nts in your league who could get more rushing yards
