English footballs are round, so you're probably looking for a symmetric
group.

American footballs have isometry groups which are semidirect products of R/Z
and Z/Z2.  This is, of course, a subgroup of a symmetric group.

Matthew,

We are a little too wrapped up with our "shitty little table" to help you
start your newsgroup.

Ask your system administrator.

That should get you started.

sci.math!

Or is it true that your news provider is incompetent in that it does
not tell you to which other newsgroups this thread is being
cross-posted?

Follow-ups restricted back to sci.math.

Oh, by the way, did you know that the design of the football (the
alternating pentagon patches and square patches) is also a
mathematically interesting subject?  Recently a carbon molecule of a
similar design is also discovered, and it is found that this molecule
exists in soots.  So it is also of interest to chemists.
