i'm in a keeper league (2 players). pts for tds and performance. start two
rbs and three wr/te. i have t. brown and m. irvin at wr and n. kaufman, r.
smith, and t. allen at rb. i will be picking 7th and 18th. my question-
should i keep brown and one of the rbs or keep two rbs and hope to grab a #1
wr in the draft? any insight is appreciated.

I would keep Brown and Smith, your two best players.  Kaufman is OK, but he lost
2.2 yards per carry from the first half of last season to the second half.  He
might do better this time, but he's a small guy and we have some statistical
evidence that he wore down.  Irvin, who knows, and Allen is too creaky.  Say
what you will about Smith, he goes down with enormous injuries, but _not_ small
ones!  *grin*  I'm a little leery of suggesting you keep him, but I don't think
your alternatives are any better.

I would keep Brown and Kaufman, even though they are teamates.  I don't look
for big things out of Smith or Allen this year.

you know, Tom, I agree with you about those two being the two best. but- I'm
*really* concerned with Smith's potential for injury, especially if he is to
be my #1 rb. however, check this out- since I posted my original message, I
have traded my third rd pick(5th if you count the 2 keepers everyone has)
and M. Irvin(who I wasn't keeping anyway) to an "expansion", first-year
owner for his second rd pick. that leaves me with the 7th,13th, and 18th
picks overall (after the two keeper rounds, of course). the keeper list
hasn't been released, yet, BTW. perhaps I would be better off keeping
Kaufman and possibly getting someone equal to, or better than Smith with one
of my picks...the trade kinda expands my options, don't you think?
