Running back advice needed - who's sleeping out there?

Post by Mat » Tue, 28 Aug 2001 08:07:59

My league just had it's auto-draft, and I'm looking to make a move at
running back. My first two backs are Stephen Davis and Lamar Smith, so I'm
happy there. But my third back is Sammy Morris, who really fails to thrill
me. He was the last back taken in the draft.

It's a ten-team league and each team is carrying about 3 backs, so figure
about 30 backs being gone already. Any notions who might be out there as a
sleeper who would be better to carry than Morris? Scoring is 6 points per
TD, 1 point per 25 yards rush/rec, and 1 point per reception.

Here's the rest of my team, though I doubt it matters - I think it looks
good for a 10-team league.

QBs - K. Warner, K. Stewart
RBs - S. Davis, L. Smith, S. Morris
WRs - J. Smith, M. Westbrook, E. Moulds, K. Johnson
TEs - K. Brady, B. Chamberlain
K - Grammatica, Wilkins
D - Titans

Possibly take your chance with Chapman from Minn. - may get alot of inside
the 5yd line carries for TD's.  Plus if Bennett gets hurt.....

If Travis Henry is available, I would gamble on him vs Morris.  Other then
Bennett, I think Henry is next best rookie RB.

Identify all 31 NFL starters.  Assuming all three of Denver's RB's are
taken, there should be a few starting RB's left.  I'm not saying any
of them will be better than Morris, who is not a bad #3 but he doesn't
figure to get a lot of yardage points in your league.

He's available. I'll read his scouting report. I'm also looking at some
possible trades, as I have four solid receivers and can start only two.

Kevan Barlow from SF will probably start after they dump Hearst.
