Fantasy Owner Needed - Keeper League

Post by t.. » Tue, 01 Jul 2008 00:16:29

Hey Guys --

I'm looking for 2 new owners for 2 separate leagues.

Both leagues are identical to each other and run on the yahoo site.
This is the first year they will be running on yahoo.  Both leagues
are 11 years old and run on the internet, so the owners are from all
over the world.

The cost of the league is $11.50 to cover the cost of running on the
plus platform of yahoo.

If you have an interest in taking over a one of the teams I have

How's Tuesday, August 26 for everyone?

Do we want to use Fleaflicker again or Yahoo?

What rules did you hate and want changed?

Works for me.  If it is on a weekday, Thursday is by far the best as I
don't have to be at work the next day until the crack of noon, but
anything but M/F works.

I'm open to either one.

Perhaps we should start by digging up the immediate-postseason
discussion? :)  I know I had things I wanted to bring up, but months
later I can't remember any of them.  I vaguely remember something about
having true hard cutoffs for add/drops, and locking of bye week players.

Consider this thread officially hi-jacked.  Sorry about that.

I thought Fleaflicker was a pretty decent site (especially for free).

I think we need to implement a rule that DQ's a team that threatens to
quit in midseason, then goes on to win the league.  The winner by
default in that situation should be the 2nd place team who had to
suffer through Vince Garcia as their starting QB all season.  And if
that doesn't pass, this league has no integrity...

I agree that some ambitious owner should resurrect the discussion
thread from the end of last season.  Seems to me that there were
several good ideas in there.

Pretty sure I could make August 26th work.

Any day works for me, but earliest must be after 6pm MT though.  I
just need to know so I can schedule my other league's draft also.

I agree with the almost quitter then winner rule......lol.

Well, if we're hijacking the thread, we might as well go all
out.....How about keepers, I know that was one thing discussed last
year?

Personally, I like watching fresh stupidity every year, as opposed to
seeing the same 5 stupidities every year for a decade... Especially
since I had one or two of them myself!

Okay, let's get this moving so we don't have a repeat of last year's
fiasco trying to set a draft date.

3rd Annual RSFF Riff-Raff League

Order of Business:
1. Last year's results
2. This year's roll call
3. Announcements
4. Ponderables

1. LAST YEAR'S RESULTS

After threatening to quit due to a horrid-seeming roster, Sir Creep's
team FirstPlace Technologies stormed first through RunningRiot KY
(Brad) and then Ookie's Bad NewZ Banditos (wood) to win the
championship, pissing off some owners (wood) who would rather throw
themselves down a flight of stairs holding four swords and a bottle of
nitroglycerine than consider quitting mid-season. Creep joins Roy
Williams (who won our first season) in the winner's circle. Once again,
congratulations, Creepy.

2. THIS YEAR'S ROLL CALL

Who's in? Here is the current status, ranked in order of finish from
last season. Just in case it's not obvious, (IN) means you've indicated
that you're returning and (?) means you haven't. So far, no one has
opted out.
  - SirCreep (?)
  - Wood (IN)
  - Matt R (?)
  - Brad D (?)
  - Homertime (?)
  - RangerFan (?)
  - Cold Ethyl (IN)
  - GiantForever (IN)
  - Alan (?)
  - Roy Williams 31 (?)
  - Polarhound (IN)
  - Ken G (?)

3. ANNOUNCEMENTS

Fleaflicker has been bought by AOL. If we decide to stick with them, it
should still be the same experience, but you'll need to get an AOL
screen name if you don't have one yet (it's free). I have no problem
sticking with them...I really liked the whole functionality of the
site. Besides, the league is already set up from last year. Does anyone
object to using it again?

The "Post of the Year" goes to Creep for this: "Hey KY Jelly...didn't I
ACCEPT that trade already? What gives? I accepted the exact same trade
2 days ago...and now it's in my inbox? Did you fux veto it? For why?"
Runner up goes to Tom for this gem: "3rd most points here, and ranked
8th. Too much credit given here for W/L record."

The "Ethyl is Going to Rub Your Nose In It" award goes to GiantLover.
After I said that I put my infant son in a Giants onesie, he had this
to say: "RE: Giants onesie?  Come on, Ken, give the poor lad a fighting
chance, get him something in cardinal and gold...lol." All I can say to
that is --> New York Giants...Superbowl XLII CHAMPS, baby!

We have a ton of time to iron out the rules. Read them. No
really...***ing read them. I don't want any complaining about how the
rules suck. Speak up before the season starts or bite my butt.

4. PONDERABLES (rules & logistics points of contention)

DRAFT: I suggested Tuesday, August 26 as a draft date. It seems okay
for the four of us who've already responded, but there are 8 more folks
we need to hear from. I don't freaking want to hear another season full
of complaining about how the autodraft screwed people over. Let's all
agree on one date. If someone doesn't show up for WHATEVER reason,
they're not allowed to complain about what the autodraft gives them
(didn't someone get 4 QBs? haha). If this date doesn't work out for
you, speak out. Right now, Mondays and Fridays are out.

KEEPERS: A few people mentioned this throughout last season, and
giantforever brought it up the other day. It looks like Polarhound
doesn't care for the idea. I don't really care one way or the other.
What does everyone else think?

WAIVER CUTOFF: Creep lost his mind because people were picking up
players during the playoffs. Do we want to cut off the Waiver Wire at
the end of our regular season?

WAIVER ORDER: Do we want it to reset every week according to record, or
do we want to have it where whoever is at the top stays there until
they claim someone, then move to the end of the list?

ROSTER LIMITS: Last year, I set limits for how many players of one
position you can have. Some people flipped out that they can only have
6 RBs (or whatever I set it at). Personally, I think it takes more care
and skill to work within limits (thanks to Creep for backing me up
there). Last year we had an 18-man roster. Should we reduce the total
number?

TRADE DEADLINE: Was last year's too late? Where do we want to cut it
off? I assume we'll have a 14-week season with weeks 15 & 16 as our
playoffs. Do we want to cut trades off after week 10? 12?

WOOD: Wood is not allowed to draft Vince Young.

MINIMUM HOLD FOR PICKUPS: Last year, if you picked someone off of
waivers or FA, you couldn't drop them for 4 days, or some such...to
keep ***s from picking up and immediately dropping someone just to
lock that player from anyone else. There is no setting in fleaflicker
for time. I can choose Yes or No to "Lock Recently Added" players.
Assuming we stick with Fleaflicker, do you vote yes or no.

GLITCH WITH WAIVERS AND BYE TEAMS: It seems that last year, players
were locked for the weekend when they got to just before their game.
Players on bye weeks never locked for that weekend, so you could pick
them up during the normal "lock out" time. We should probably close
that loophole (if possible). Any objections?

FRACTIONAL POINTS: Do we want to use fractional points or whole points?
I don't care either way.

RETURN POINTS: Creep got his panties in a bunch because D/STs were
awarded points for return yardage. Do we discard this and just stick
with TDs?

DRAFT ORDER: Do we go by last year's record from worst to first, or do
we reset it to a random order? I prefer random order for redraft
leagues. Anyone else?

I guess that's enough to start with. I activated the league in
Fleaflicker and set the tentative draft date. Hopefully, you've all
received an email about it. Visit the site, check out the rules, and
bring your quibbles and suggestions here for discussion.

Thanks,
Ethyl / Ken

I just did a complete and total 180 on Fleaflicker.

I refuse to let myself be forced to sign up for AOHell in the name of FF
just so they can inflate their user numbers.

I now vote for Yahoo.

Someone will need to send me a pair of noseplugs to ward off the AOHell
stench every time I login.

The trade rules definitely need to be spelled out better than they were
last year.

Proposal:  Once both teams accept a trade and it goes to the league for
approval, no recissions.  You want to reverse it?  Go through the whole
process in reverse and let the league once again give the OK.

The 26th is fine with me.

- Lock non-playoff teams roster at the end of the regular season.
- Lock all remaining playoff losers as they are defeated.
- Lock all WW/FA pickups at 1pm Sat/Sun (whichever has the first game)
.. As for how to handle Thursdays, I'm open to ideas.
- I vaguely remember someone being able to drop reserves that already
played their game last year?   Bad bad juju.

I'm for having the single season-long rotation.

16-18 fine with me.

Week 10 sounds good for me.

Absolutely, Yes.  If you want a bit of leeway, allow each team one
mulligan at the Commish's discretion for those times someone *cough*
picks up the wrong player :)

Random ok for me.  I always suck when drafting at the top.
