here, i just put this little "What's Mihos doing at the telescope"
webpage together for the University, and figured i'd share w/ you
rsfckers.

It's aint Mike Price getting down with Destiny, but it's better
than a sharp stick in the eye.

The last time I was poked in the eye, I saw stuff pretty much exactly like
that. So, in response to your comparison, I'd have to say that they are
pretty much the same, except that your web page caused me slightly less
physical pain in the process.

What's the streaks in the first photo?  They seem to be centered on some
stars.

Check out the big brain on Schrumpf! That's right!

yep, those are called "column bleeds". These are images taken with a CCD
detector (like in a digicam), when a bright star saturates the detector,
charge bleeds out along the column containing the pixel that the star is
centered on. So basically whereever you have a brght star, you have a column
bleed, and the brighter the star, the bigger the bleed.

they can be removed through the image filtering process, which is why they
don't show up in the other images.
