Advice Needed in Non-Keeper League

Advice Needed in Non-Keeper League

Post by Shane Thompso » Thu, 24 Jun 1999 04:00:00

I have the fifth pick in the sixth round (#45), and I want to go for a WR.
The WRs I have so far are Carter and Harrison.  It's 6 pts./TD and 1 pt./10
yards receiving.  An 8-team, 15 round, non keeper league.

I was thinking of Isaac Bruce, Frank Sanders, Terance Mathis, Yancey
Thigpen, Rob Moore, or Michael Irvin in that order.  If Isaac Bruce is still
avaliable, is he too big of an injury risk?

And if you think my list should be in a different order, by all means
reorder them and post them back.  Thank you!

I'd put them in this order:
1) Rob Moore, He was the top receiver in my league last season and has a
great QB.
2) Frank Sanders, great Q.B.
3) Michael Irvin, good QB - should have a decent year, 1000 yds 7-8 TD's
4) Terance mathis, near 1000 yds. 7-8 td.s
5) Isaac Bruce, no QB (should be around in later rounds if you want to take
a chance)
6) thigpen,

It would be nice to know who your RBs & QB (if you have one yet) are before advising you on your next
pick.  I'd say Bruce is not worth a pick in the top 50 & I'd try to get him next round if you really
want him.  Take Sanders or Mathis & you'll probably be happy.

1 - Mathis.  Safest and should be very productive.
2 - Thigpen. Could the 'every other year' theory really hold?
3/4 - Sanders/Moore.  Plummers is starting to blossom.
5 - Irvin.  His numbers will never be great again.  Number 3 receiver AT BEST.
6 - Bruce.  Most talented and upside potential on the list.  But I had him last
year and I'll use a quote I heard to describe T. Glenn last year:  "One of the
best when he's 100%.  Worthless if he's 99%."  If you are already set at WR,
take him.  But I don't think I could pass up Mathis if he's available.
