Working with family never works...

Post by Peac » Fri, 22 Oct 2010 06:52:30

...my brother turned in his invoice for the month with 22 hours more
than I had in my records. I called him with the discrepancy, and he
proceeded to cuss me out. Any other work environment (I am his boss),
I would have fired his ass. I'm more than willing to admit wrong-
doing, but I accounted for each project he finished weekly, with dates
and figures (which we need for billing the client each month.)

He is pissed at me....

IAWTP. Obviously, he can't handle you being his supervisor....or
just thinks you'll let him slide which is worse because it shows he
doesn't respect you.

Do you not require documentation?  I don't think this is a corner bar.

If he's new, a good idea, but not great.  If he's new, standing up for
what's right saves two jobs in the long run.

It's not clear if his version was verified or not.  If he's wrong, fire him.
One less Christmas present to buy.  If you were wrong, apologize, then tell
him you didn't appreciate being cussed at, and in the future, business is
business and not family.

Better to find that out sooner than later.
