BCS Polls Part 2 - Harris (and combined "human polls")

Post by That Don Gu » Tue, 02 Nov 2010 04:19:35

Here are this week's combined BCS "human polls" numbers
The first number in each of the three segments (Combined, Coaches
Poll, Harris Poll) is the BCS "average" number (or, for the combined
value, the sum of the Coaches and Harris numbers); this accounts for
2/3 of the final BCS value.
The second number is the adjusted poll number - each one point
represents everybody in that poll voting that team 1 place different
(so if everybody votes a team, say, #5, then the team's adjusted poll
number is 5) - add up the Coaches and Harris numbers, add the team's
average computer ranking (counting all unranked teams as 26), and
divide by 3 to get the BCS rankings in terms of how many "actual poll
places" apart each team is.

Looks like Oregon has a good chance of taking over at #1, since they
will also be stronger in the computers this week thanks to playing USC.

Irrefutable proof that they will NEVER let Boise get the title shot.

Tonawanda gave the perfect counter to your argument.  Why just think
that Auburn beats Boise _NOW_, unless you are designing a denial of a
title shot?

FWIW, if we really wanted to talk about putting teams on the basis of
who beats who, Auburn beats Oregon by three touchdowns in my belief of
a title game.

Don't think Alabama will jump them both this week.

Eventually, I would not be surprised if we get 1 v. 2 in the SEC again
-- this time, not their title game, but the Iron Bowl.

Anybody think that lasts long?
