When I see ***writing like: "Not only did Iowa finish 6-6 and lose
its last five games, the entire state of Iowa just isn't very
interesting. Iowa is the Indian word meaning, "How 'bout some corn?" "

I basically ignore the entire article.  Making fun of Iowa because they
grow corn is about as lame as you can get.

Ooooh - and he dissed on Herbert Hoover too!

Pretty funny to watch someone from Texath talk smack about another
state - that's what was actually funny about this article.

Why else would you make fun of them?  They ain't got nuthin else.  I did
just see a commercial on a hunting show that had a 13 year old girl say
"Please by our Doe Pee, It will make a hard working girl from Iowa happy"
.....See, even this 13 year old girl has nothing to look forward to but
harvesting pee from does the rest of her life.

Heh!  I grew up in Iowa.  First job out of college:  Texas!  DFW
offered a whole hell of alot more night life than Ames or Burlington,
Iowa ever did.

On top of that, Fort Worth is one VERY fine city.  I just wish there
were more decent DBA jobs there.

DFW is a shithole.  Suburban hell complete with the gated communities
and chain restaurants.  I would seriously rather live in Dubuque.

Yep, been to Dubuque, too.  Funny, though, I could have sworn it had
chain restaurants and gated communities.  Must have been seeing things!

Chain restaurants?  Yes  Gated communities?  I don't think so.

The main part of the city is on a bluff.  I WUZ THEIR during the big
Mississippi flood of 1993 (?) and Dubuque was high and dry.

Hell, even Buddy Holly said that he'd rather die in Iowa than go back to
Texas!

Perhaps I'm thinking of Davenport, then.  I was in Iowa City five years
ago during the latest big-ass floods and drove over to look at the
flooding.  If I recall correctly, the whole riverfront was under water,
including the Quad Cities River Bandits baseball stadium.
