I have the #12 & #17 picks in the draft.  What players should i
be looking for in these spots ?  We use basic & performance scoring
in the league.  TD -- QB =3     RB/WR = 6

Greg..

I'd go for a QB first, since they're more likely to throw for a lot of
TDs.  It's kind of tough to get a read on who would be available at those
spots, but I'll try.

It seems safe to assume that Steve Young, Dan Marino and Drew Bledsoe
will be gone.  Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, Marshall Faulk, Natrone
Means, and Chris Warren should be gone too.  Jerry Rice, Cris Carter, and
Tim Brown will likely be gone as well.

That's only 11 players, but at QB, I guess you'll be looking at players
like Jeff Hostetler and Jeff George as possible QBs.  In the backfield,
Errict Rhett, Jerome Bettis, and Thurman Thomas look pretty good.  At
wide receiver, you've got Carl Pickens, Herman Moore, Rob Moore, and
Andre Reed.

Don't forget Bam Morris or William Floyd.

at 12 and 17, i think your biggest concerns would be to pick up a quality
running back and quarterback..chris warren, jeff george, hostetler, even
sanders possibly could still be on the board at 12....if another of these
players is still available at 17, you've got a pretty good backfield.
otherwise, pick up a star receiver (receivers are easier to draft in
mid-rounds) like brown, miller, moore at 17 and hope watters or rhett,
testaverde or everett slip to you're next pick!!!

hope it goes well....
tell us how it turned out..

i would consider it. with number 6, you are guaranteed one of the following:
young, smith, rice, marino, bledsoe, faulk. not too shabby. number one
will almost certainly be young, so you have to decide how much worse any
of the others are than emmitt, given your scoring system
