I heard recently that Carolina will probably not take Sapp with the #1
because he wouldn't fit in with Capers' 3-4 defense. Also they are not to
keen on taking Ki-Jana Carter either as they don't think running a rookie
back behind an expansion line is a "formula for success".
So here is the scenario I've come up with. The Panthers will trade
down with the Skins' and get the 4th overall pick + whatever else. With the
first pick overall the Skins' could grab either Carter or Sapp. With the
fourth overall the Panthers will pick Kevin Carter who would fit in better
with their defense. What do you think? If this happened would the Skins'
 pick Carter or Sapp?

Mel Kiper suggested this but then turned around and projected
Ki-Jana going to Jacksonville. Seeing as an expansion team has
the #1 pick, their best bet is to go for the BPA and K-J Carter
is that player IMO.

John, are these your own speculations or have you heard this
because as a Redskin fan, I have not. With the recent FA losses
of Mark Schlereth and Raleigh McKenzie to Denver and Philly
respectively, our talent pool is deleted even further. I can't
think of anyone off the top of my head who Carolina would want
from Washington that the 'Skins could afford to give up. Norv
has stated that Washington doesn't need a DT nearly as much as
a DE so perhaps Kevin Carter would be selected over Sapp
anyway. If Washington could make this deal without mortgaging
the team, sure I'd love to have the chance to pick #1 but I
would need a specific player you have in mind before deciding
one way or the other.
