Prescription Goggles

Post by Paul C. Mannin » Fri, 14 Jun 1996 04:00:00

Hi all,
If had a set of prescription swimming goggles for a while, but
they are now showing signs of age, and I'd like to replace them.
The current ones are Speedos, but they seem to stopped making them?
Anyone know of a stockist/supplier of something similar.  U.K.
outlet prefered.

Thanks,
Paul.

I've been looking as well. I got a pair of speedos a few months ago in
Mackenzies in Edinburgh UK, and I went back to get a spare set. No joy
so far...they said they'd order some (they have others, but none to
match my prescription), but I'm not holding my breath. I've found them
nowhere else.

I'm going to be in touch with Speedo customer service (0115 929 6131) on
Monday.

I hope not...they tranformed swimming into something enjoyable. I'll be
on the phone to every sports shop in the UK in search of the last of
them if they have stopped.

Please let me know if you find any others.

You might also try prescription goggles from SWAN. around $30. I'm happy
with mine so far after a couple of months....

I know that Barracuda also makes prescription goggles, sorry I don't have
more info than that at hand.  But I bet that most major goggle
manufacturers make them.

Instead of trying to find prescription goggles, perhaps you should get
disposable contact lenses.  Six pairs will last at least 12 weeks, if you
only use them for swimming, and are only $40-60.  You can see the clock
and what coaches are telling you without needing to keep your goggles on
to see.
